Today is a sad day. Flame, my beautiful red male betta was dead this morning. He was fine yesterday, but then this morning he was dead in his tank.

He was fairly old, I have had him for over 19 months and he was full grown when I got him.

Anyway, he was lively and happy to the end, and yesterday he had a nice meal of homemade gel food, and snapped at it just like a piranha.

I buried him in the yard under a big pine tree.

What a shame. sad.gif You are probably right that it was just his time to go. He had the best life with you and that's all any of us can ask for.

Im sorry about flame :'(

cry3.gif How sad for you to lose Flame...I also lost a Betta this morning.Morpheous was a striking blue Betta who was full grown when I got him too.Last March/April 2004,I almost lost him to a terrible case of finrot & Ick,but I pulled him through it. He was also fine & eating one moment, and then this morning when I got up-I saw that he was gone.. cry3.gif He looked completely fine, and that's what bother's you,you know? Water was okay-no visible signs. *sigh*.......I guess we don't know where and how their lives begun,so I don't know what actually did him in. I am sad though. He will be missed. Sorry touchofsky for your loss.It never gets easier does it? heartpump.gif

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear this. I've never had a healthy fish just die like that. It must be tough.

It looks like my betta might be joining Flame soon. He's really struggling to survive.

I am so sorry about Flame. I hate when it happens so quick. I mean, it is the best way, but you think they are fine and then they just let go. This happened with my dog... At least you know Flame had a great life with you and was happy until the end. smile.gif

I'm sorry Touchofsky and Devs that you lost your bettas! cry3.gif
My youngest son's betta that he had over 2 years died recently and it does not get any easier, I agree. sad.gif

No, it doesn't get easy, that is for sure. At least Flame lived a healthy life and never had any disease problems. I had noticed over the past couple of months that he just looked old. He was still hungry and seemed lively, but he just looked like an old betta.

Flame share a divided tank with Evergreen, my dt halfmoon betta. So, I guess I get to buy a new betta. Sigh.

sad.gif Thanks everyone... I've lost a few Betta's in the last 6 months. I have yet to get over Elizabeth ,if anyone remembers that thread. These guys only lasted a little over a year which is sad.I started feeling really bad,but I know it hasn't been anything that I've done wrong. We don't know where/how these little guys start their life out,and what type of health problems they come with when we buy them ,and I always try to remember that.Yesterday,my one and only female swordtail died too. I've lost track now,but I swear she was well over 5 years old. I can't even remember how long ago that I had Swordtails. ohmy.gif
