One of my killifish jumped out of their tank last night. I know they can jump pretty far, and ive made sure everythis is realy covered so they couldnt get out, but he found a way. I think he jumped out of this tiny spot in the back where the filter goes into the tank. Somehow he ended up like 5 feet in front of the tank. He must of landed on top of the tank, and jumped off of it as well...... I only have three left. This morning my fiance wakes me up, and says, one of your little green fish is on the floor... looks like he's been there for a couple of hours. This isnt the first time this has happened either... i lost another one last month this way.

I am really sorry about your fish. That is horrible and I hate when things like that happen
When I lost one of my dojos, I stuffed all around the filter with filter floss to prevent another escape. Maybe you could try something like that.

Thanks everyone. Tomorrow im going out and buying some stuff to fill in the last of the open spots. I cant believe how small of a spot they can jump out of.

I couldn't believe the tiny spot that my dojo managed to get through. Sometimes it just doesn't seem possible, but they do it.

Yeah, i have a hood for the tank. There is only a tiny spot where the filter goes in that he could have jumped out of, but its sooooo tiny, i never thought one would get out of there! Its all covered now, so im hoping they dont plan another escape route!

Now every morning when I get up, I look on the floor to see if there is a fish there, before I turn on the tank lights. I dont think they could get out now... but still... never know. i had one jump out when i opened up the lid to feed them, so its hard to say!
