Is it ok for a goldfish to eat a spider?
One just fell into the tank; and before i could take it out that hungry little guy ate it!

So far it's ok-- does anyone know if it's real bad?

I remember someone from the board mention his goldie ate a spider or was it he gave his goldie a spider(I can't remember which)and some members said that as long as it isn't a poisonous spider,it would be okay.I hope I made sense

Sometimes flies fall in and they eat them.
The fish in the pond do it too.
They seem healthy - extra meat!

i never remove the fangs and they still eat it anyway. drown the spider and it will be food for the goldfishes.

In nature goldfish eat a lot of live things in and around the water, so a non poisonous spider should be okay. Of course, its kind of too late to check up on that if its already in the fish's mouth...

Yeah, bugs are eaten by fish even if you don't know about it, many insects fall in.

There was a spider living on the filter on my girlfriends tank, and she said when she looked in once she could see the legs of it sticking out of one of her pearl danio's mouth.

So what your saying is that i can kill a simple fly and feed it to my goldies and nothing will happen? ??

Yes, that would be fine. I once bought a jar of nutrient enriched flies at the pet store to feed my newts and my fish loved them too. But boy were they ever stinky!

careful with flies tho, they harbor much much bacterias and stuff....

you wouldnt want your goldies munching on your dogs poo, but in essense, giving them flies gives them just that!
