Hey Guys

I woke up this morning and was about to feed my 20+ neon tetras but when I got to the tank, they were all GONE!!!!!!

I was shocked because they were still doing fine yesterday night and suddenly they all disappeared this morning? I'm still trying to figure out what had happened to them....not even their corpses were there....

Can anyone relate to this problem? What could of happened?

thanx guys!

What else do you have in your tank? Could they have been eaten by something? Neons unfortunately fall prey to a lot of other fish, even ones that arent that much bigger. Also what sort of filter do you have? Its possible they could have been sucked into it. It is really weird that they just suddenly disappeared… could someone be playing a horrible trick on you or something? sad.gif

thanx for the reply jsrtist

I thought it was my brother's friends playing a prank on me or something but it wasn't....

When I changed the water yesterday, I thought a pile of gooey stuff at the bottom of the filter....turns out that they were all sucked up the filter and grinded up by the propeller.....sorry to be so graphic but that's what happened....
I just can't believe how that could be possible! 20+ neons sucked up the filter over one night? There must be some other explanation to this....I just can't figure it out...
oh well......too late for anything now.... sad.gif

Oh thats just awful!! How sad that it caught every last one of them. sad.gif Ive seen it happen though so be sure anytime youre getting small fish you carefully look at your filter intakes. Small fish cant escape the powerful suction sometimes. If you do decide to go with neons again get larger ones (about an inch and a half long) and you should have better luck.

Eew.... should not have read this thread right now.. I've been sick to my stomach and throwing up all day. That didn't really help. ill.gif

It sounds like a Finding Nemo escape plan gone horribly wrong.

I have a plastic guard on my filter intake. It's just a little cage-looking thing, but it prevents fish from being pulled up in there.... perhaps you could find osmething like this. Mine came wiht the filter, though, so I don't know where you would buy one. sad.gif
