I got some new snails today for my new snail only tank!!!
My MIL said she wanted to get me some snails for my b-day, so of course I told her I would let her!

Anyways, can one of my rubberlipped plecos go in that tank or would that be a bad mix with the snails?

In my very non expert opinion, I think that would be a good idea. So much for snail only then huh?

What kind did you get?

You know it's hard to look at all of that water and not dream of putting more stuff in it!! I have even wondered if it could quarentine a new fish before it goes to the main tank. There's always an excuse, right?
Ummm, but I might just leave it all snails.
I just noticed a haze on the glass from certain angles and wondered if the pleco would help keep it clean.
And if there is anything that poops more than goldfish...it's a snail!! (Not expecting the pleco to help with that though.)

Well, I got blue, light purple, dark purple, ivory, chocolate, burgundy and a cana. Some of these were at my sons' request, so apparently it's not just my tank!
Most of them are still pretty small and I am waiting for them to start moving around. I read that it may take a while after the shipping process. I just hope they are okay.
It's funny cause my MIL wanted to get more and I was the one saying no, that's enough for now! And she does not share my interest in them at all....she just likes to be supportive.

Wow!! I bet they are gorgeous! All apples I assume? What a great MIL! No one in my family seems to be THAT supportive.

Well most of them were DOA it seems. The smell was horrible when I was unpacking them, but I thought maybe it was the dirty water, etc. But the bodies were falling out of the shells a little while later. I know the cana is alive and doing well, but that is about it.

That's horrible. I know you are really disappointed. Where did you order them from? I had good luck with crayfish.com.

It was disappointing. The order was from Rainbow snails (I think). She would have replaced them, but honestly I can't bring myself to go through that unpacking thing again. The odor !
I will give crayfish.com a look, but there is a fish store that I go to sometimes (not the closest to me ) that had some purples and ivory. I didn't get them because I knew MIL had some on the way. So I may just go back there so I can bring them right home.

Sorry to hear about your snails. I've gotten a few order's from Terri. The last order,I lost a Cana & a Brig-but didn't bother with it.Both times I ordered there seemed to be shipping probs.If you ever want to order again let me know. I have a few people that have not left me down.

Yeppers....The thing is ,with shipping,I spent alot of money for a couple of Snails if you think about it. Don't get me wrong,I'm sure if I would have let Terri know,that she would have probably sent me more at my shipping expense. I just don't feel the need to pay for shipping all over again.

That's exactly how I feel about shipping again. Something you're not paying too awful much for becomes expensive after all the shipping charges.
And that's why I decided to just leave it alone. You live and learn.
Just goes to show I should've waited until you had some big enough, huh?

I am at the point now of trying to decide whether to continue the snail tank or stock it with female bettas or something tropical instead.

I think I am a bit biased but I think you should continue with the snail tank. Try again, let her replace them. She is quite responsible.. would she really make you pay for shipping again? Did I understand that right? Have you asked her?

Airwen,Yes,Terri is responsible and nice,and as I said,I'm sure that she would send me more.However,I have dealt with this before,& she does want shipping paid again.To me personally,it's not worth it,and that is why I haven't got back to her about the losses. I am not mad-nor am I telling people not to deal with her.I am just saying that shipping on this occasion,didn't work out too well for me. As I allready spent 25.00,I really don't want to spend anymore.That's all.

Oh, do the snails.... I watch my one apple snail as much as my goldie! Imagine a tank full! Sounds great to me anyway. Good luck though with whatever you decide.

Me too. I'm not putting her down or anything. It does state that shipping must be paid again, but I don't like spending the same money twice. It adds up to alot for $2 snails. I don't find it worth it either.
(but you should see my DH mocking me when I find something on the net offering free shipping! That's just how I am )

I think the tank full of snails sounds great too Andrea. They are fun to watch. I'm still thinking on it.....

I went to a local fish shop today that I love to look in. He mostly has saltwater stuff (which is so beautiful, but expensive too) but there was a tank of bala sharks with some cherry barbs in it and some snails. I liked the color variety. I haven't done a tropical tank yet, but I'm thinking about a tank like this one. That way I could keep the 3 snails I have in there.
But then again..... I saw a tank FULL of snails and I still really like that too. It wasn't any of the snails like I want to add though.
