I don't know if goldies should eat any kind of burger at all? I don't think they are carnivorous fish??? I very well could be wrong though......If it is okay to feed them a little treat once in awhile I would assume that it should be cooked, meat carries so much bacteria.
Good question though I hope someone can come and give a definate yes or no I would be curoius to know also.....

I think thier both herbivores and carnivores because they eat krill, shrimp, blood worms, all that stuff. but they also eat vegies and stuff.

If you cook it in oil, that might not be healthy for the fish. Goldfish are generally omnivorious... they eat bugs and plants in the wild.

And red meat is so full of fat and cholesterol, I don't think it'd be good.

Heh... I have images in my head of a cow drowning in a goldfish pond--I'm trying to figure out how this would work in nature...

hey you might try fruits and veggies or mosquito larvae, i dont know about hamburger, i mean if you think about it, they might find a peice of fruit floating in the water in the wild and eat it, but i dont think cows usually float around in the water to be nibbled on. (I promise I didnt mean that sarcastic or smart it just came out that way).

you really wouldnt find many goldies in the wild unless they were released. as for feeding them processed food, it will clog up the insides and make them ill. its not even healthy for humans to eat it never mind getting your fish to try and chew it, though hopefully they would have the sense to spit it back out

I realize there probably wouldn't be many goldfish in the wild, but that's kinda how I was thinking in terms of what would be safe to feed them.

actually breeders tend to use beef hearts on their fishes for protein, they even use salmon and tuna, so meat is safe... it's just that you need to trim the fat.

boiled meat is usually alright, i believe. the fat is much reduced in boiling and draining.
our dog has to eat boiled beef and chicken, and i occasionally give bits to the fish also

I even plan to make fry food base around beef hearts

actually high protein foods are geared toward fries so when a GF is at it's second year beef hearts should only be in moderate amounts in gel or paste food.
