I personally don't use any driftwood in tanks, but I have seen wonderful displays done with it. After all the tanins are out, the only thing I would watch out for is a shift in pH towards the lower end - some driftwoods lower pH.
Other than that, sounds like a great addition. Here is what I found about the Swahala driftwood....

The side exposed to the elements loses its protoplasm, eventually darkening to a rich ebony. The unexposed side builds a resistance to decay-producing organisms and maintains its bright wood color. Swahala wood embodies Africa and will add contrast to any tank. "
With the two-toned natural coloration in it, it must look stunning. Even more so than I saw on pictures online....
