do you have any pix of teeny baby brigs?

I got plants last night and about a zillion snails came with em....

I dumped them on a towel, and pulled out all the rams and other pests....now i got like thousands of little ones that look like itty bitty brigs.....

Awwwwwwwr I love baby snails! Too bad TATOR-TOT ATE ALL THE EGGS! heh. He waited untill they were bigger too. Escargot for fishies.

Well Smack,I don't know if I should congratulate you or what....Chances are that they're some sort of pest Snail-probably Physid's(s?) They also have a little spiral,but they're shaped kind of different.Are they dark like black,or maybe even light spotted brown?

light spotted brown? I found an ittty bitty baby snail in my tank today and its light spotted brown, is it ok to keep it? I did get a new plant recently.

I hope Mamaschild doesn't mind me taking these pictures, but they're lovely.

These are pretty newborn snails.

Esareh- if you did get a new plant it's likely it's a pest snail. How big is it? Is the shell type like those in the picture?

well, I have em separated in to 8 different containers....trumpets in one, red rams in one, little oval black snails in one, very flat, round see thru snails in one, light colored brig looking snails in one, dark looking brigs in one, stripey looking brigs in one, others in the last container.....

some are light, some are dark, some have itty bitty stripes on their shells...theyre all sliming around...i looked at them with a magnifying glass and they have little antennas and some are walking upside down on top of the water!!!

the seriously do look like very very small brigs.....same shape....

Its this big ( ) and he looks a bit like the ones in the picture, only a little more brown.

Those are just new Brig (Pomacea bridgesii) babies. They are not mine, I got the pics from Mamaschild on applesnail.net.. my camera can't take pictures that close up.

At this age, color is no indicator. I realize it might be hard using that picture, but try to compare the shape of the shell. So if the shape is exact, most likely they're Brig babies.

definately...same shape, little feet and antennas...shells...exactly!

Well if they are then I'd guess they're Brigs! Congrats!

Wel....If there's stripes/different color's,etc...then maybe you did get some Brigs! Where did you get the plants from? By the way,the flat see through snails are Ramshorns.

I got the plants from someone on ebay.....
forget the name right now, but, it was super cheap for a TON of plants...and snails....

Thats probably why they sold em. " holy heck look at all them snails lets unload em on some one else so we dont have to deal with em."

Yeah,but Brigs are one snail that you can make some money on.Grant you ,you won't get rich,but better than Pest snails!

Hmm.. are you sure they're Brigs? The spires look a bit fat to be Brigs. But then again if they're so young you never know.

They look like my trapdoor babies. Veeeery boooooooring snails. I hope I didn't offend any trapdoor lovers but mine literally sit in one place for days even weeks! I hear they are awesome pond snails because they eat all kinds of algae, do not eat plants, and can withstand lower temps than most snails. I don't know how they eat much with just sitting there though.

I dont know 100% if theyre brigs.....I thought they looked alot like them tho.... well see when they grow up i guess!

I'm no expert for sure,but I think they are definately not Brigs. I would guess more like Physids. I don't own Viv's so I'm not positive on those.I do know that they really look like mini versions of Brigs.These babies seem more oval shaped.

ya know, come to think of it, they only got 1 set of antennas!!

so...now...what are these snails gonna do to me?? over run me? eat me outta house and home?? destroy my plants?? should i keep em or *sigh* feed them to the goldies?

I dont know what the eggs are, but i think theyre some type of itty bitty ram...I had a bunch, moved them away, and now theres more...

Why YES to all the above!!!!If they are the Pest snails,then I would definately keep them totally under control as much as possible,or totally trey to get rid of them.Don't gety me wrong,I think all snails are cute,but some are water rabbits!!! They just eat & breed!!! They do eventually get out of control.I am constantly getting rid of Ramshorns on a weekly basis. They get in your filter's and everywhere else. It's up to you though Hun....
