I made the mistake of going to the pet store to buy fish food and ended up leaving with a beautiful silver butterfly Koi. heartpump.gif He/She is about 5 inches long and I haven't seen much of it since I put him in the pond. I put him in with the Oranda's since I was afraid the large Koi would eat him. I almost walked out of the store with 2 calico oranda's. I may go back and get them this weekend and they were both beautiful. I'll post pictures of Bullet (the kids named him) as soon as he comes out of hiding other than to eat.

Congrats on your new babies! You sound like me, you walk into a fish store for something like food or water supplies and you come home with a new beauty! Could it be that's how my pond got overstocked??!!!

Good Luck

Congrats on the new one! biggrin.gif

However, I'm a bit concerned as you didn't QT this fish. I hope there will not be any seriouse repercussions from adding a new fish directly like this! sad.gif

I'd like to see a pic too if you can! biggrin.gif

Yes, I agree with Kathy, not wanting to spoil your excitement though. I know QT is a drag. Read Jetman's post on qt though, if you haven't.

Congrats on the new one, it sounds like a beautiful fish so I am looking forward to seeing Bullet!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. To be honest, I've never qt'd fish in the pond, only if I'm adding them to the tanks downstairs in the winter and I've never had a problem (knock on wood). I did keep him down in the basement for a day but that was it.

I will hope for the best for you in regards to that. Its worth the extra step though, a once of prevention is worth a pound of cure! I know, I'm a Koivet Mentor and just took a wet lab last Friday with Doc Johnson himself.

I've a microscope due in tomorrow and my two newbies are not going in the main for 6 weeks and they will get two scrapes and scopes done before hand.

Its hard to wait though! rofl3.gif I wanna see them swimmin with my other koi kids!
