I stopped at Petsmart today and I found some more tropicals that I love smile.gif I never noticed how beautiful the regular black mollies are! Do they have to have salt in their water? How many friends do they need to be happy? Can I stop them from breeding? I also saw some pretty goldskirt tetras! How many friends do THEY need to be happy? Will these two fish get along with eachother and a small school of black neon tetras? Will they all fit in a ten or 12 gallon tank? I might have a betta, or a pair of dwarf gouramis in there with the tetras. Just some more ideas smile.gif I NEED to get a group of black neons (four or five) since I've got two already. I'm just fooling around with ideas lol. I don't even have the right tank yet..I'm searching the classifieds for a cheap 10 or 12 gallon and a cheap 20 gallon too for a couple goldies smile.gif Anyone know if these combos will work and have enough elbow room? I definately don't have the money right now, but I'm still dreaming!

BTW, I ALMOST got a ten gallon with lights, top, and penguin filter today for 25 dollars. I see it in the paper, but by the time I called the guy back a second time, all four were sold to some guy sad.gif (in an hour!)

Black mollies would do best (and live for a bit longer) when you add aquarium salt smile.gif
Nope, there is no way you can stop them from breeding XD! But, I wouldnt reccomend livebearers, because the strains of today have been weakened thanks to stuff like inbreeding.
I would go for a shoal of 9 black neons, they are hardier than normal neons, and they look excellent if you have floating plants to diffuse the light smile.gif

hi kissy
mollies need more than ten gallons for swimming space and the only way to stop them breeding is by only having females in the tank.
a couple of female platies would be a better choice to the mollie.

the tetras too demand more swimming space than a 10 gallon as they are very active fish. these fish are also very nippy so it would be advisable to keep them in their own tank or have a very large school which isnt possible in the ten.

how about some silver tip tetras or lemon tetras?

I saw some little cories at the pet store too. It said they only get about three inches. Do they stay as cute as when they are one inch? Are they compatible with a school of neons? How many need to be together? Any other ideas for what I could put in a tank with my black neons?

Sorry for my tropical ignorance. I'm just playing with ideas before I set off to the tropical world smile.gif
