I'm not positive, but they look like some sort of Cichlid.You may want to go0gle that and see if you can find similar pics/info on them.

Didn't your friend remember what they bought?

agreed. some kind of cichlid.... uh... fishprofiles.com and check on cichlid profile, they look really close like the ones on the site.

Just took a quick look, we're off to take the boat out, but they sort of look like convict cichlids. How big are they and how old are they, if you know? Any colors on them that aren't showing up on the pictures?

right now my friend says they are babies, so they are pretty small, like a couple of
inches for the biggest one, they are bout 3 or 4 months old.i seen the mom fish and it's huge, about a foot. the only color they get is gray-black.

It's definately not a convict then. This is a tough one, (for me anyways

), it could be any number of different fish. Often the females will have drab coloration and the males will have the color. If you could see an adult male then it might help with identification.

they are very easy fish to take care of but i couldn't find what type of fish they are.
