How soon should you throw your food away after you open it? Specifically, I am asking for frozen bloodworms and I have an assortment of dried food, but any information on the expiration dates would be useful.

smile.gif Wow,I never have any food left around that long to worry about any expiration dates!!! laugh.gif The Dried food,as long as it's in a cool place, kept in an airtight container, and no moisture gets into it,can be used much longer the the Manufacturer's shelf date. As for the frozen Bloodworms,I get the ones that comes in little cubes. Once you thaw those out,what-ever I don't use right htere & then-I throw away. Once again, they can last pretty long.I keep mine in a sealed Baggie. You can usually tell when it's been in there too long. I had some Brine Shrimp, and the little blocks were starting to have alot of ice frozen on them, and they also became dry looking( Hard to explain) Anyway,Once I saw it like that I knew it was time to buy new.Hope this helps you with some idea. I go through everything so fast, that like I said,I never have to worry about those things. rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

rofl3.gif LOL, Im the same way Devs... but... mine is from being clutzie, and forgetting, and I leave the frozen blood worms out all night... so I have to throw them out... I swear, in the past month, ive boughten three boxes of blood worms, and only used like maybe three cubes, and then i leave it out. I finally came up with a method that works. Usually one block has like 10 mini cubes in it, so I cut them into each mini cube, that way im not taking all of them out... just one at a time. Im hopeing it works!! Im sooo forgettful.

As for the freeze dried stuff, it goes by sooo fast for me, that ive never thought about that...... but like most things, the experiation date doesnt mean its expired right then. like devs said, keep it in an air tight container, no moisture, room temp... should be fine.
