I have a 5 gallon acrylic curved tank and there is one tetra in it. What fish would you advise adding to this small tank? I was thinking maybe another betta or maybe a few tetras....

Wait a minute........ are you saying tht there is already a betta in there? If it is a male, and you get another one, they will constantly harrass each other, or even fight, (although, even in the wild that is a last resort). A female, with another female, would be big trouble. Females establish something called the pecking order, where the alpha female can peck all the bettas lower than her, but if there is only two females, the weaker of the two will be constantly harrased and may die of stress.
I reccomend that you just get 4 more tetras of te same kind. They are schooling fish, and live longer when kept in a school (in groups of 5/6 or more)

There is only one orange tetra. Dunno what kind, it is silver with an orange stripe... I could get 2 more of that kind and maybe 2 neons...

I think it is a glowlight tetra, for now, I would just get two more glowlights, I'm not sure whether the neon will shoal with the glowlights.

The LFS doesn't carry glowlights. They carry neons, cardinals, bloodfins, and these weird ones that are orange with a black triangle on their rear near the fin. I went and bought 2 neons but neons seem to be fairly delicate. How do neons rate in delicacy (not as a food...) to guppies? How fast do guppies breed? I wouldn't want tons of babies... and how do you tell their sexes? Can tetras and guppies live together? I don't think I should add anything but tetras to my 5 gal. I was thinking of getting about 3 more tetras, maybe of the cool kind I saw. They were in with the neons.

My main concern is location. I have this one spot off to the side of our TV stand in our downstairs where I have my 5 gallon. It is on a wooden bookshelf and I would put a 10 gallon with tropicals on there except it would be too large for the shelf. The fish kinda are just a decoration that I care for and I was wondering if some

would be a good or bad idea? 3 tetras (1 glowlight, 2 neon) in a 5 gallon so far. Should I just go ahead and get 3 more neons so they neons can at least shoal together? Or would these 3 be best without being almost overcrowded?

I want one of these:
http://petco.com/product_info.asp?familyid...D+Desk+Top&ct3= They are more expensive (maybe?) than buying all your own supplies and tank and I like how they are combined into one instead of all those cords and stuff. I might buy one, I saw these ones at Walmart and Fred Meyer's last week and really liked them. I especially like the biowheel.....

That would be nice to get, hmm i would get more neons, but you'll need
more space for them though. Maybe after you get a bigger tank you can
get more neons and glowlight tetras.

Ok, would a betta do ok with the 3 tetras or is that a mix for disaster? I was thinking of moving my fish into a 10 gallon and maybe adding a betta and some more neons. My mom doesn't want to do anything more for fish so at the moment the tetras are staying where they are but eventually I'll move them...

I'm not too sure of the type of tetra you have, but I know neons would do well with a peaceful betta. The only thing is you should have at least 5 kinds of the same species tetra or else they won't be as happy. Five small tetras and a betta are perfect for a ten gallon...that's what I plan on doing! Just try to get the betta last, as that might cause a problem, and it would be easiest to return just him and get a new one

It all depends on your betta, if yours is very agressive then the answer will
of course be no.My betta is alittle agressive, and i have 2 neons in with
him, and they do great.
