Hi peoples!
You may have read about my fiasco with my 2.5 gallon tank, but my mom told me I could get a bigger tank!

I'm going to get a twenty gallon, and I need some decorating tips. By the way, any one know where I can get some peagravel???

And I also was wondering what type of theme you have going on in your guy's tanks. I was thinking either colorful, or river bottom...

I'm also looking for suggestions! If you have a different theme, please tell me what it is! Thanks in advance!

I would say to decorate it with things and colors that you like. Everyone's tastes are different and what is right for someone isn't right for the next.
It is good that she is letting you get the bigger tank, I was just reading your other thread.

I'm having the same problem.. I'm upgrading to a 110g and i just cant think of a theme, everytime i do i can never find the sorts of ornaments i'd need for it. I dont want plants because my goldies are evil purple plant attackers! Fake would be alright but i dont think they look as good..
I'm still stuck on an aztec theme though... I might just go with that!

Hey svendenhowser,
Have you tried the pirate or tropical or ancient ruins themes? Hey! I just came up with a couple of Ideas for mine! Go Fishy! Go Fishy! Go fishy! Do you have purple goldfish then?
"I dont want plants because my goldies are evil purple plant attackers!"

I haven't even gotten my fishy yet but I have anacharis plants in my tank already. What types of plants do you have in yours? Apparently the bigger and wider the leafs, the less they'll "attack." I wouldn't know. I'm getting my fishy this weekend! Can't wait!

Just a little note, make sure you read up on cycling the tank before you get your new tank and fish. You dont want to get your fish and have it get sick or even worse cause you weren't sure what to do. Oh yeah and also get a test kit too, you will need it.

Thanks silver8328
Already got that stuff covered. I have a test kit and I know about the tank cycling. I've had other kinds of fish before. This is just my first goldfish.

yea well the aztec theme i'm thinking about is kinda like an ancient desert ruins type thing, but i wanted light coloured gravel, which isn't gonna happen anymore seeing as its going to discolour very fast..

That's cool! I think I'll go with the tropical/pirates theme. Still pondering the river bottom... I got till Saturday to decide.

That sounds awesome! I would love to see pics!!
Mine is done in the ancient ruin type theme with the roman column type things.
DancingGoldenFishy, You might look around at some of the tank of the month pics.
I love seeing everybody's different decorating themes. You can get lots of good decorating ideas just by looking around.

I'm going to the manufacturers today to order my tank!! They may have it in stock so i might get it today, but i'm going to varnish it n stuff so it'll be a little while before i get everything ready, but OF COURSE i'll have pics

I cant help myself with my camera!
Hey fishrpets what substrate do you use? I still want a light coloured gravel, but maybe i'll just go a little darker, but still lighter than normal?

I actually have a green and blue mix. I was thinking about going with the natural colored stones too, but I was upgrading and decided to use what I already had (plus a little). I still may change it out sometime and get larger and natural looking stones though ( I like the stone that looks like peagravel but bigger and more rounded pieces). I hope that made sense!

Best of luck! Setting up a new tank is so much fun!

Well i went to all the fish shops in my area and they all kinda had the same substrate, and nothing to my fancy though. Maybe i'll just stick with my black gravel (that i have now) and think of something else.... its so difficult though!!
BUT i got my tank today!! w000t here it is
http://tbbw.customer.netspace.net.au/tank.jpg the hood and stand are downstairs being varnished, should be ready to put up tomorrow!!

Thanks guys

the last coat of varnish is on the hood/stand so a couple more hours and i can get stuck into it! And the picture is kinda like a penny shot, but seeing as we dont have penny's in oz i use my foot instead

I was so excited i couldn't sleep last night

woke up early to put the last coat on!
On the plus side of using my black gravel is that it already has all the bio bugs just waiting to be used!

a ten gallon is 20 long, 10 wide, 10 or 12 high
