As some may already be aware, i have had trouble with the nirtrite level with my tank. all that is situated and i've noticed fungus and fin rot on my fish. His eyes are protruding a but more than usual and i think it's leading to Popeye! cry3.gif cry3.gif cry3.gif

I am using Maracyn for his fungus and tail rot, but thensomeone told me that's a bad idea becaue it'll returnthe water condtion bad. I just did a water test and it's ideal. Hes still very active and there is no signs of lethargy or darting. There are times where he rests at the top of the tank though. He just floats there and yawns. There's is plenty of oxygen but i just don tknow what to do. and i have no hospital tank nor can i get one. Should i just buy those smaller bowls with a filter and use that as a hospital tank??

Should I get a Maracyn 2 instead?

How do i make my fishy better?? cry2.gif cry2.gif

Im really sorry to hear about your fish. I use maracyn two when my fish has gotten popeye and fin rot, but I always transport them into a hospital tank. Since you already started, you really wouldnt want to stop using what your using (enless its not working). I think they could biuld up an immunity to them. Sorry Im not much help. ive never heard of it ruining the water quality, but it is possible. ive never had problems... maybe someone with a bit more knowledge will chime in on this one.

Hope your fishy starts feeling better soon. Oh and one more thing, ive used clout also. i havent heard much about it on here, but it worked for me as well, but it did screw up somethings in the tank... everything was stained dark blue!

does anyone know what the yawning means??

this is what i was once sugested, if you are able to filter your tank with plants, that is the best way to controle the whole mother nature cycle, i have problems with this and i found that plants controled alot of this problem!

Fin rot could be a sign of Dropsy. Perfect your water first. Then add salt to it. Salt will help the fishy's immune system. It's 1tsp per gallon of water. Oh before the salt and after the perfecting water, do a 20% water change. And make sure your water is still perfect. Does he have raised scales? What are all the symtoms? What are all your water levels? Ie ammonia, pH, nitrite, nitrate, hardness, alkinity.
