finally my mom said i could have pond but i have no idea what size to get! i need one that will fit five fast growing commons! and heres the prob it has to be above groung as i have electric cables running under my garden and i wonder weither they will be able to stay outside for the winter as once they get big i wont have room for them( i live in the u.k) oh and also i have to buy the stuff myself as i want it !! hmm help!

oh yeah there are also alot of cats in my area i have dogs and there are heorens and another type of bird that ive been warned about cant remember what its called but aparently if it cant eat the fish cause its too big it will just kill it any ideas on preventing this bird from getting at my fish?

You would probably want 100+ gallons. You could put a net over the top of the pond,that would help. Make the pond deep too. Good luck with it.

A net over the pond, well staked will do the job to get the birds and coons out. Might the one your thinking about be a Osprey?

For above ground, you can buy a stock tank, aka water trough. I have a round one that is 750 gl's I use for a Q-tank, set up with a laguna 1500 pump & fountain head and the laguna bio filter thats expandable.

The nice trick with these are you can do alot with them, like build a gazebo around it, effectly protecting it through winter. Useing rolled insulation on the outside you can also rock up the outside as well, giving it more protection and looks nice!

Stock tanks come in lots of different sizes, from 50 gl's up.

ur lucky your parents said you can have a pond. my mom was tweakin at me for wanting to get a tiny 10 gal.

its not been all plain sailing for me fishermoe14 it took me three years to convince my mom to let me have a fish she said theyre borin! then when i started college and got my EMA she said i can have one if i buy it my self it was also because i took a pic of a fish in a shop and said how beatiful it was she give in. then it died over night so the shop owner gave me another fish phill a black moor but then i felt sorry for him as he was only in a small tank and i started to moan for a bigger tank then my mom nearly got rid(because i was naging) of him then someone phoned and said i could have their 36" tank for free horay! so then came along tiger a fantail eddie a black moor and ben the loach thing a few months after that i got two orandas amander and pebbles and chalky the fantail with one red eye and one blue eye theres pic of them in the new members area!(and the goldfish discusion area)and then i had loads of probs with white spot fin rot and bad water quality so my mom was gettin annoyed with all the water changes and she nearly made me get rid of them! then my cousin gave me five commons the ones i want the pond for and i had lots of problems with them jumping out of the water and they also had bad water because of the crap little tank and filter they had soo i got another tank for them which had a better filter and a lid. and finally i got babies from my fancies which are nearly a week old! oh god i bet ive bored you to death with my life story ooops!
