I remember you must do something wiht a flower pot that you are going to use to make a cave for fish, is it boiling the clay pot or was it something else....

Make sure its clean, make sure its not glazed, make sure theres no sharp edges... There must be a thread about it some where. Boiling it would work depending on how big it is. Is it for the goldie tank or some thing else? - Meg

Its best to use a new pot that you know hasn't been sprayed with insecticides. Either way, you can rinse the heck out of it in hot tapwater to pretty much sterilize them for use. Do it a few times if your in doubt. All in all, terra cotta pots or pots with a known, NON-toxic glaze are great!
Hope this helps!

I bought a couple miniature terra cotta pots from Walmart. I rinsed them under hot water for awhile then placed them in my tank. I have had no problems!
Plus they are SOOOOO cute!!

You know, it's kinda funny, but I think that clay pots are hardwired into our brains to look good. I mean, I wonder how many thousands and thousands of years we have been using them?!?!
Hey..... don't laugh, it's plausible.........
