Your tank looks great. I have been thinking about setting up a snail only tank. What size is yours? And where do you keep the clutches? I saw some are in a bowl and is the other floating on top in the tank? Can you tell I've never dealt with snail babies? laugh.gif

theyre in a 10 gallon....

the first clutch happened while i was away, so i had mom put them in a cool whip container, which was what was suggested on here, the others I put on a peice of styrofoam as they laid them, and theyre clipped to the side of the tank floating there....

i hope they hatch..seems like a long time dry.gif

Hey smack,if theyre the ones you got off of Heather, they might just be young & starting out.Sometimes young snails will lay clutches that aren't fertile. Pics are hard to tell, are they going to a whiteish color,or are they still real pink? Also the temps are a big factor of how fast they hatch too. They can't be dry,but they also can't be super wet too. AErika,I wanna see your snail tank!

It ain't pretty, but gimme a few minutes and I'll snap a shot or two. biggrin.gif

she kept calling me like 20 times a day asking what to do, and she was seriously like crying when she called the first time and had to move em....i had to walk her through it, to the best of my knowlege...i was like cracking up and at the same time, wishing i could be home for the 'joyous event'....

I hate to sound sooo ignorant, but what is a snail tank?

Should I have a snail with my goldies? idont.gif
Erika
A lot of us here aren't only addicted to goldfish, but apple snails as well. Many of us have tanks that are 100% snails!

A snail with your fish? Sure, if you have the room and do the research as to what kind of snail to get. Contrary to belief, apple snails aren't algae eaters, they have nutritional needs that have to be met for them to be healthy and have good shells.

If you wanna learn more about snail, ask questions! We're here to help! biggrin.gif

well, from what ive seen, one of the ones from heather is laying eggs, along with my big old speedy....all the boys are from heather.....both of my original canas are girls....

they laid a bunch more clutches, and i can see teeny dots in them...is this the baby snails in the eggs?

i have them floating on my snail tank, it gets pretty warm from the light, and i mist them a couple times a day with a spray bottle.....

they have been starting to get paler, whitish i guess...is this good or bad?

Little dots are good; they are baby snails. I'm not sure about the colors though. I know they get lighter and darker throughout the.. I don't know what you call it, like a snail gestation period or something. Anyways, as the snail babies get bigger, the clutch turns darker right before they hatch.
smack536
oooh, Yay!!! i guess i might get baby snails then!!! someof the clutches have dots!!!
