Is there any cichlids owners on here? I have two blue ram cichlids (my fiance bought them) that I love dearly and are absolutely beautiful, but ive never owned cichlids and have no idea about their care. Ive had them for over a month now, and their doing awsome, but i want to make sure im going everything possible so they get the best care. One of them is about 3 inches right now, the other is about 2 inches. They seem very happy, and colorful. They eat cichlids bites, their small hard sinking pebble things. Are these good for them? Is there something else I should be feeding them? I also feed them frozen blood worms once a week. Ive heard cichlids are very aggressive, but these two dont seem to be. Does anyone have any experience with blue rams? Any advice would be great. And I mean anything. I have no clue about them, just that their blue ram cichlids.
Thanks heartpump.gif

Congrats on the Rams, they are beautiful fish with great personalities.

I have Rams as well and have even managed to get them to breed.
As for aggression, cichlids cover the whole spectrum, some being extremely aggressive and others very docile. Even within the same species it can vary alot depending on the personality of a particular fish.
Rams aren't aggressive to other species and are only mildly aggressive within their own species.

One thing that might interest you is that, on their black spot that covers their midsection down from their backs, if it has the metallic blue spots in the black it is a female fish, and visaverse, if no blue spots are present then the fish is a male.

Wow, thats really interesting. If thats the case, then my larger ram is a female, and the smaller one is a male. They really are beautiful fish. I read on a site last night that not many places sell blue rams because their usually only bought to breed, and not to sell and show in an aquarium. I love my two little rams. They have such bright colors.
