I have been taking care of bettas for about 4 or 5 years now (plain VeilTails sold in most pet stores). After I seen some of the more fancy bettas, I fell in love with the Crowntails! I have never seen them sold in pet stores around here in south-west Washington. I was wondering if there's anywhere in south-west Washington or an online site for Washington where I can buy a Crowntail. Any info is appreciated! I love my VeilTail betta, but I must have a Crowntail also!

Beware, these can get real pricey but this site has the best online betta auctions I know of. Aquabid
Good luck in finding one.

Thanks! I was looking through there earlier and seen some very pretty fish but the prices are terrible! -_- I seen a few okay priced ones but then the shipping was $25 -_- LoL I definatly need something much cheaper than that sad.gif

I wish I could be of more help to you, every LFS in my area carries crownies. Sometimes if you send the sellers a message they can bargain the price. Priority mail is decent, I've had all my fish delivered via USPS for only $15. Don't get disscouraged.

I live in Vancouver, Washington and ive seen crowns a few times at petstores around here. Every once in awhile ill find them at petco or petsmart, but i really have to search. Petco had some the other day they had in tanks with goldfish tanks. Also, if you do live in the vancouver, washington area, have u tried pet gallery? I go there alot. Ive had really good luck with their fish, but ive never acctually bought a betta there before, so its hard to say what they might have.

In most LFS you can ask someone there to order you a fish, if you have a color in mind it takes some time. Good Luck! smile.gif

Thanks BigRed.... I'm farther south frm Vancouver.. I'm way down in the Kelso area -_- There's a Petco and another store called Pet Works. I think there is another one still around that's called It's Alive but I don't know where they moved to. Most of the other pet stores have been shut down sad.gif

My grandma used to special order some of her really fancy and more rare fish. I'll see if I can ask her which store she did that from or maybe ask at Pet Works or something next time... Or would Petco do something like that too?
BigRedandBlindWillie
Im not positive if petco will special order any fish. ive never acctually asked, but I know petsmart wont. They wouldnt even special order me a light that i wanted. I know alot of local ma and pa stores that will. If you ever do make it down to vancouver, pet gallery will special order anything. they even told me they would special order any rare goldfish if I wanted. I havent been to kelso in awhile. I think the last time I passed through was on my way to the beach when I passed through long view. I acctually live in La center, so im alot closer to kelso. Ill have to check out that pet works you were talking about.

Pet Works isn't huge, but they do have a nice fish selection, especially tetras and such LoL. They have a few tank fulls of a variety of live plants that looked very healthy when I was there last. They had a saltwater section in the back but I didn't go and look back there. I heard they have even more birds and such upstairs but I've never been up there LoL.. It's located down on Commerce in downtown Longview smile.gif

Perhaps they will let me special order if Petco won't. We don't have a Petsmart around here, and Petco is brand new... Opened last month sometime I think smile.gif

Petco must be multiplying pretty fast! Last month two new petcos opened up in vancouver. now we have three! One is on the corner of Orchards and fourth plain, and the second that just opened is over in Hazel Dell.

LoL Guess so! Longview is trying to expand pretty big. They have a little "mini-mall" where the Triangle Mall used to be (where Petco is now located). There is a WinCo in the works near that area too and a Lowes bought out several homes down near the highway somewhere and is supposed to start things soon I guess. LoL I hope Longview doesn't change into another large city like Portland or something -_- It'll be terrible!

*sigh* I almost had a way to get uptown and ask about special ordering a CT betta but my mom was to tired and didn't want to make extra stops uptown -_- I have to wait now... Possibly until THursday (hopefully at the latest!)
BigRedandBlindWillie
WOW, I guess I need to go check out longview. Last time I drove through, it didnt seem really that big. La Center is planning on putting some big casino in (like we dont have enough) that supposed to be right next to the freeway, and have rooms to stay in a nd everything. Once they do, I have a feeling a bunch of big chain stores will build here also! Hopefully you can get down there soon. Bettas are sooo much fun, and crowns are beautiful! heartpump.gif I saw one today, and wanted to bring him home, but couldnt.... dry.gif

Another idea is to check out whether there is an aquarium club in your area. If there is, they often know who local breeders are and you can sometimes get fish directly from them. The aquarium club in our area has a website, and on the site there is a list of people who breed different fish. Maybe a search in go0gle would turn up something in your area.

Thanks for the idea touchofsky. *blushes* I've never seen much online for Kelso/Longview, Wa -_- I'll check again, but I don't think I'll find anything sad.gif The towns are way to small still compared to other places and not important enough LoL
BigRedandBlindWillie
LOL, yeah Kelso is kinda small. But you never know, you still might find some body who breeds them locally. Let us know if you find one.

Any idea I can go about finding out if there's a club in the area here? No luck looking online sad.gif

Is there a larger town or city near you? Our aquarium society is actually based in a city about an hours drive from me. Maybe you could ask at the fish stores in the area.
BigRedandBlindWillie
Yeah, the goldfish society around here is located in portland I believe.

The largest city near here is Portland, OR, but that's about an hour drive for me and I'm without transportation.. Our family vehicles won't make it on the freeway -_- LoL

I can ask at Petco our the Pet Works when I can make it up next smile.gif Thanks!

I actually saw a beautiful female black crowntail a few weeks ago at petsmart!!! I So would have gotten her if I had the room, she was very elegant. I usually don't fall for the bettas either tongue.gif
atryeu
Aww, lucky!! I don't get to go to the pet stores around here enough to see if they stock any sad.gif I get to get uptown maybe once a month, if I'm lucky *cries*

I got ahold of somebody on aquabid... If I were to buy a $5 betta from somebody overseas, it would cost me roughly $37 total because of extra costs sad.gif If I find one in the states, it has been $25-$40 just for shipping sad.gif There's no way I can even consider getting one online sad.gif If I had that much to spare, I'd have bought a new 5 or 10 gallon tank sad.gif LoL
Ponderosa Power
aww I'm sorry! Those extra dollars kill! I almost got a complete 29 gall with ALL the best accessories (stand, gravel, plants, lights, Penguin filter and everything else) for 175 I believe. The guy said it would be about 150 more for shipping tho o.O
atryeu
Aww sad.gif *sigh* There's a thing on Aquabid, under Multiple Tanks I think.. Somebody is selling the entire fish room for $1000 but it's pick up only. sad.gif The price included a 125 gallon tank, a few 40 gallons, 30 gallons, and a ton of others but I forget how big and how many. It was definaly worth it! *sigh*

Seen another for 2 10 gallon tanks for $15 but it's pick up only also sad.gif LoL
