i had to clean my water today, so i did a 30% water change, and siphoned the stuff from the bottom of the tank. my filter's intake thing, the 'protective' cap were a little lose so i tightened it up. after i cleaned the water and everything, i put the filter and pump back on. everything was fine until thirty minutes later, i find that my oranda's red cap is stuck in the intake, like, his HEAD is stuck in it, the entire cap. so i panicked, i found the protective cap floating in the water... i shut off everything, filter, air pump. then i released the oranda. he looks okay, i mean its like nothing happened to him.

but to me, his cap looks ragged and little bit deformed. right now i am using a pima/mela combo. i hope hes okay! because he sure acts okay. >< im such a bad daddy. cry2.gif

smile.gif I think that he will be OK. It is a good thing that it wasn't that long that he was stuck and you were able to help him. The best thing that you can do is make sure that your water stays high quality--keep up with water changes.

These things happen sometimes even when we do our best to care for our fish.

Oh Raith your not a bad fish dad! lol It wasnt your fault, and you caught in quick.

My moor was sucked UP the intake tube once, I was gazing at the tank and didnt notice the cap off, and he was swimming closer and closer, then he disapeared. I ripped the intake tube off the filter and he fell out on the floor. Thank god he didnt go all the way up.

i tightened the cap so hard its almost impossible to open it up again. im kind of paranoid now, i think ill also tape it..... :[

Don't be so hard on yourself, Raith. It was a simple and not uncommon mistake. Give him lots of TLC and he's be right, mate! biggrin.gif OBTW, I think we should not watch Finding Nemo where the fish can see the TV. wink.gif biggrin.gif
Raith
haha! smile.gif thanks for the cheers all.

If it was just his wen, he should be fine. It's not you're fault Raith, in fact you were trying to protect him by tightening it. Sometimes things just don't go the way we imagine. Thank goodness it was not any worse, I'm sure he doesn't hold a grudge. smile.gif
Raith
i certainly hope not!! :|

Accidents happen Raith. Your fishy forgives you.

We all make mistakes. smile.gif I'm sure he'll be fine. Give him a little melafix to mend any scrapes.

It was an accident Raith, it's not your fault. I sure hope he will be fine and I bet he will be.
I do know how you feel though. Today after cleaning out my betta tank and trying to get him back in he JUMPED as I was getting him out of his holding bowl and landed in the sink! I got him up and into his tank asap, but I feel horrible. His fins look a little ragged so I am giving him a little med too. I am only telling you this so you'll not be so hard on yourself....it happens to us all sometimes. You are NOT a bad fish daddy!
