does anyone else have frothy water in the pond sometimes?

the fish look like they are having a bubble bath some days laugh.gif
Scott
okay, you have a new pond set up, and it should be spring there as well! This adds up to spawning? How early do you get up in the morning? My fish aren't spawning yet this year but in years past they generally do their thing around 7 a.m. or before. This may possibly be it.

My pond has had a few more bubbles on the top than normal but I am thinking it's from all the salt. I've had my salt up to .5% this year in hopes of no repeat performance of last year wink.gif . I am letting the salt go back down since the water temps are going up.

Sounds like your fish are spawning to me though.

(spring & change in water temps triggers spawning. Or a new set up such as your new pond can trigger spawning, only in spring though)

oooo spawing!!!! i have never experienced this. We late spring - early summer now smile.gif

anything i should be watchin out for? i don't get round to the pond till' early evening.

so why is there bubbles, is it couse of a lot action? (that sounds odd now i typed it laugh.gif )

piccy of what it is like sometimes.

IF they are spawning it's from the males fertilizing the eggs wink.gif look at your pond plants to see if there are eggs on them. They will be small clear to cream colored balls. They will be everywhere. So if you can't find them on first inspection then the frothing is not from spawning. In that case I don't really know what it would be? Unless it is caused by something you've put in the pond? You said you were going to get something to help clear the algae, that might be it. I wouldn't think it would do that but who knows.

Spawning will cause frothy and cloudy water, that is for certain. The pond is in shambles for a couple of weeks. Its almost like you had a big kegger in your house and invited people with little regard for you or anything in their path, that is spawning.

Thanks Scott, i'll go and have an nspection soon. Clean to cream coloured balls. single or in a group like frogs spawn?

I used tetra claifin to clear the mucky water.
Scott
clear to cream, frog spawn I think is like a clump sort of like snails? If there are fish eggs they'll be everwhere, but not really clumped, but they do stick to the plants and the walls of the pond most likely you find groups of them but like I said not clumped together. Make sense?
I've not used the tetra claifin, if there aren't any eggs that might be it though?

hum... i can seen any eggs yet, but water isn't crystal clear as it's been raining.

the water had froth on it for a while, just seems oo be more when it's cold, very curious.

I did see at lfs ages ago (i didnt read the tub unfortunalty) 'Anti Froth' i'll have to have a look about me think, don't know if i wouls use it but it may give me a clue to frothy-ness.

Thanks for the help Scott, much appreciated smile.gif
