Ponderosa Power
I had just changed the water in my ten gallon. (with two tetras, Ruby and Rummert) I was watching them as usually and I noticed that Ruby was flickering her little head around occasionally. I looked closer and noticed that there was a cat hair in her mouth. (I have no idea how I noticed this..it was one of those thin white squiggly ones) I was freaking out and watching to see if she would get it out but no luck. So I got out the net and the two scattered. All you tetra owners know how fast these little guys swim and hide, especially when they are scared. Its almost impossible if you don't remove all the ornaments. But after five minutes, I caught her. I kept the net in a cup of water so she never had to deal with all the air and brought her up. She isn't afraid of my fingers, so I kept grasping near her head until I got it. I pulled a little and she followed. I was like "oh no..." but I pulled a littl more, very gently, and it came out. Poor girl! The hair was as long as she was and I pulled it out of her stomach! I was like crying after I put her back as in a "omg, I just saved my fishies life!" cry. I am so scared that I might of hurt something but she seems back to her dandy little self now. I think she might have died if I didn't notice..It was in her stomach so she couldn't just spit it out, and if she managed to swallow the whole thing, it surely would have stuck in her tummy. She ate some dinner tho. I am still a couple days to make sure she'll be okay, but I feel heroic. I did something right for once smile.gif

well done for spotting it. i'm always on the lookout for hair in the tank as it can get tangled in fins and if it catches round their bodies it can slowly cut into them like cheese wire. good to hear the fishie was ok heartpump.gif
