I bought my first ever test kit(Interpet Easy Test Kit), it's a tablet test and here are the results:

Tank:
PH: 8.0
Ammonia: 0.0mg/l
NitrIte:0.0 mg/l this one is weird yesterday it was 0.1 and today it's 0.0 lol
NitrAte: 50-75 mg/l my tap is 50 sad.gif How do i get it dow?

Tap:
PH: 8.0 same as tank water
Ammonia: 0.0mg/l
NitrIte: 0.0mg/l
NitrAte: 50mg/l

My question is how do i lower the nitrAte since my tap is 50? sad.gif >:(

Hey, congratulations Rob, after a while you'll wonder how you ever managed without them. Sorry I can't help with the nitrAte question, that sure is high though.

I know sad.gif Do you think Interpet Nitrasafe will lower the nitrAte?
DataGuru
Couldn't hurt to try as long as your tank isn't salted. Please do let us know how it works.

I've also been reading that trickle tower filters will lower nitrAtes.

With nitrAte that high in your tap water, don't use it to make infant formula. It can cause brown blood disease (like nitrIte poisoning in fish) cuz it gets converted to nitrIte in the GI tract and binds up the red blood cells keeping them from carrying oxygen.

So that's why most times my ryukin keeps going up to the surface even though i added an airstone...

I can't get it today because i don't have the money yet sad.gif Maybe this friday or nxt week... I'll keep you guys updated after i get it smile.gif

Thanks

Ok heres what i found about NitraSafe:

INTERPET NITRASAFE
Nitrate is an end product of the breakdown of toxic waste and is therefore present in most aquariums. It directly affects fish health (causing stress and weakening them) and causes algae problems. In some areas, nitrate levels in tap water are becoming increasingly high, so changing the aquarium water is no longer a safe method of reducing nitrate. The levels of nitrate in your aquarium should be regularly monitored using the Interpet Easy Test for Nitrate. Levels of nitrate over 50mg per litre are undesirable and should be reduced using Nitrasafe. Nitrasafe can be used safely in freshwater aquariums or to pre-treat water change water. Easy to use nitrate removal sachet can be placed directly into the aquarium or in the filter. Fast and effective, removing up to 7,000 mg of nitrate to a safe 25 mg per litre, in a few hours. Reliable and economical - Nitrasafe cannot 'dump' removed nitrate back into the aquarium and the sachet is rechargeable with a simple salt solutionot suitable for use in marine aquariums, but can be used to pre-treat the water

Price: £11.50

It cost £11.50 ohmy.gif sad.gif So i have to keep doing the water changes for 3 weeks
