Ok a few days ago my Mom found and add for a lawn sale in the paper that said they had fish tanks, and it was nearby, like 3 mins from our house! So i was all excited about going, the add said it would rune the 11, 12, and 13th, starting at 8:00am. so off we went yesterday about 10am to check it out. But there was no one there and nothing set up, needless to say we were not happy about the false advertising mad.gif Anyway I checked again later that day and still nothing! Well I had to go to the dentist this morning, 11:30, for a retainer check so i desided to see if they had put up any signs for the sale on my way home. Well they had!! So I got there and was scannig the place as I went up the drive and there it was! must be atleast a 55gal tank, hoods, lights, filter stuff, and only $40.00!!!!! And then the wind blew a piece of paper on the side that said those heart rending word, SOLD!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it couldn't be, that tank was mine!! I could already see Walter and Farley swimming around in it cry3.gif So yeah, needless to say I am a bit angry and sad right now, if only I had gotten there sooner, or better yet it the stupid people had started the sale on the day they said they would!!

Sorry you didn't get it. Just keep looking around and you may find another one. I found a 55, 20 long and a 10 gal with hood, lights, filter and all that good stuff for FREE

Oh my, Mohican, that would make me extremely mad too! In cases like this, I just throw out every ounce of good manners my parents ever taught me, would have marched myself to the front door and pressed the bell until somebody is so annoyed by it and sells you the darn tank! rofl3.gif

LOL!! Good idea ranchugirl! I am hoping to get lucky later on this summer and find a nice tank in a yard sale! I did get to brighten up my day a little bit though rolleyes.gif I stopped at a new petshop on the way back from shopping with my mom. I didn't get anything, but it seemed like a nice place, clean tanks and cages and happy fish and animals. Plus it didn't have that yucky petshop smell that some places get. They even had a few fancy gfs, a ryukin and like 4 or 5 Shubunkins, all were very pretty and healthy looking. The tank also had a lionhead listed, but it must have been sold:( I've been keeping my eye out for a nice lionhead. I saw the cutest little one in Walmart, but was hesitant to get it since their fish do not recieve the best or care. I'm hoping to maybe get one tomorrow since we are going up to a tack shop, but they also have fish and other animal supplies, who know's maybe I will get lucky. they also have a discount aisle and sometime put used tanks in there too biggrin.gif

silver8328 wow, wow, wow! You made a great deal!! I only hope I can be a lucky as you were;)

They were kinda old and had water stains on them but just a little cleaning and they were like brand new smile.gif. I found a website that you can post what your looking for and if someone has it they email you, or you can post stuff that you wanna get rid of. I posted a few times on there that im looking for a tank and finally someone emailed me about it. Maybe if you look online a bit you can find a site like that for your area too.

A good source for used tanks are antique stores or goodwill stores sometimes. In our small downtown area here is a antique store that has used 20 gls, sometimes with stands, for sale outside.

Yea, iam always keeping an eye out for tanks in thrift stores and yardsales. I think the bigger tanks always go the fastest dry.gif

I found all sizes of Rubbermaid watering troughs at the several of the local farm and feed stores. I bought and buried a 300 gal and it has been an excellent buy.
