I noticed the other day that my fantail has popeye and dropsy (body looks like a porcupine). I added Aquarium Products Anti-Bacteria Treatment which is a treatment that is supposed to clears ulcers, dropsy and internal bacterial infection in freshwater aquarium fish yesterday. By this morning, her (?) eyes were looking like they decreased about 1/2 as much (which I am taking as a good sign) but the body is still porcupine looking.

The medication says to wait four days and if the problem still persists to repeat the dosage.

1) Do I contine with this medication? OR do I buy one of the following:
Maracyn-Two from Mardel Labs
Maracyn from Mardel Labs
Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Mela Fix

I do not have a heater so I can not adjust the temperature of the water. The nitrites are 0, ammonia 0, pH 7.5, nitrates unknown. I do not believe there is any problem with the water conditions, but I do fear the fish could be constipated.

Can this cause dropsy?

Also, what is the name of the food medication? I cannot find it at petsmart so does anyone know where I would be able to access it at another store.

I apologize for this crazy post, but I am worried about my fish. Any advice or help would be greatfully appreciated.

Ya I would change to Maracyn-Two from Mardel Labs or
Maracyn from Mardel Labs One of them does both Popeye and Dropsy. And they really cloud up the tank which is harmless and it can't hurt your fish. Make sure you look on the back to see wich one treats both......Don't mix medications.
