I have a question hope someone has some ideas.

I keep my tank clean, change water and all that. I have not had any trouble ( my fish are over 4 years old ). Last time I cleaned the tank the water was crystal clear. I have occasional alge . About a week after the water clouded up. I completely changed the filter and it semi cleared. Anyway I have been cleaning and cleaning and the water is still cloudy, I keep live plants, they grow and do well. So in desparation I did an 80% water change and in my bucket I found live worms ?!?!? How did worms get in there, are they the cause of my cloudy water? They looked like little earth worms, except I know earth worms would drown in the water. What are they ? What should I do?

the only thing new thing added lately is the filter media (no new decorations an such). I swiched from already bagged Charcoal to bag it yourself cheaper bulk charcoal.

Could these little guys be planaria? They are little flat whitish worms that show up in tanks that have loads of gravel and a little too much waste in the gravel.

Some fish love to eat them - they are yummy. You can vacumn every day for a few days and reduce their food and help to remove them. You can also treat the tank.

Here is a simple explanation for planaria:

So what did they look like?

I did check out the article but these are not those worms, they are the color of earth worms, look like flat worms.

I was gone for on vacation and a friend did over feed them. I had to clean the tank twice but they were still there.

The pet food store recommended something called Mardel Maracide and so far it seems to be working. They would swim around with the fish but I did not see them eat any. Have no clue as to what they were.

They did freak me out though.
