my fish is a major pooper i think i am in need of a better filter. i was thinking a canister? right now i have a eclipse 1 hood filter i was thinking i would keep the hood and just take all the bio-wheel/pump and what not out. then run the new stuff up the back and keep the canister in my stand. i have a 20 gallon but may get a 30 gallon soon what canister would be the best? i would like sumthing that is low priced and not very hard to maintane (this thing is a pain the filter is always getting dirty and then the little pump gets cloged all up.

Actually there is a way to keep the Eclipse running and use a canister. there should be enough room to run the hoses in the one hole on the back and then run the out take hose to the far end of the tank and the intake hose to the closest part of the hole.....Hopefully this makes since cause this way you can have both filters.

would it be more effective? probably a good idea rather then get rid of the old one completely. now just to find one what kind are best? i don't want anything talking up 2 much room thou (i store my tank stuff in my stand 2) are fluval good? they seem pretty reasonably priced but i can't see any info on which models details like gph and all.
