Instead of that tube, can I use that tube that connects an air pump to the air stone?
Will that work? I need to start it manually, Do I pinch it to start the water flow? Or do I have to suck on it?

you can wait a day or two to get a new one, but to start it off, hold the whole piece under the tank water and block both ends with your thumbs, raise one end out and down to the bucket and it should work.
