Hello! I recently brought home a cute little black moor. He has developed ich (yesterday). The ich treatment I had on hand was Ick Clear by Jungle. I added one dose to the 10 gallon tank (per instructions) and I also added 2 teaspoons per gallon of aquarium salt. I had the tank covered all day. I came home just a little bit ago, and he still has spots all over him. I did the 25% water change and added another dose of Ick Clear (per instructions). Now, what if this treatment doesn't work?? Is there something that will work better? I am still hazy on salt measurements too. I don't want to overdo it. Should I add more salt?? I feel bad for the little guy. He seems to be fine eating and all, just the darn ich spots. Any advise will help me out greatly!!

Ich can take quite a while to disappear properly - the wretched creature hasa 6-week lifespan. You can speed it up however by increasing the temp of the tank to 80*F and keeping it dark (not just lights off but covered up too). The amount of salt you have in there is fine - I wouldn't add any more.

Well my little black moor passed away sometime in the night. I checked on him right before I went to bed and then came out today and he was gone.

He seemed fine last night! Ate his dinner and everything. I guess maybe he couldn't handle the meds. I am sad though. He was a real cutie.

I'm so sorry to hear about your poor moor.

I don't think you did anything wrong... perhaps he was kept in poor conditions in the pet shop and therefore wasn't strong enough to deal with the infection and stress.
