I went to visit the pond at my parents' house that my dad and I built about 9 years ago. I put some baby koi in a couple weeks ago and theyre very happy and healthy, and seem to even be growing already! Jetman I was wondering if you could identify our large koi, Shark Boy. Hes a bright metalllic gold but has dark scales and some interesting patterns. Im also posting the best pics I could get of my babies.

Heres a shot of the whole gang eating. I feed them flakes and pellets. The red and white fish are the "feeder" goldfish I rescued from work earlier this summer. Theyve really grown a lot and look so happy out there!

And a curious little kitty watching all the action. (The water level is low so he cant get to anyone).
BTW sorry the pics are so small… its not letting me post them at a decent size. Anyone know why??

Jenny thanks again for the pictures. That big boy you got looks like a Kin Matsuba. A kin matsuba is a metallic orange or yellow fish with black in the centers of the scales. I don't think there is a classification for the blue/ black one but I would not be suprised if it goes all black. Normally as the water gets colder the fish will get blacker.
Here is a bit of info you might find interesting. All koi today came originally from a black koi called a magoi. Because of this the japanese consider it good luck too have one black koi in the pond.
