If I have a female Oranda and I think that she is eggbound, Is there anyway that I can help?

I was just wondering in case this does ever happen. It's not happening now!

Dawn it can be tricky thing. Being bound and impacted are 2 very different things the later being more dangerous.

Epsom salt and warmer water along with fasting a couple days will help these things.
Once the fish is impacted antibotics by injection is usually in order.

I didn't know if you need to massage thier sides or anything like that to help the eggs come out. But if there has to be an injectable antibiotic, then I would be screwed because I wouldn't be ab;e to do that and we do not have any local fish vets around where I live.

Thanks for the info. though!!!!

Dawn, massaging the eggs ouf of an alleged eggbound fish is something that needs to be done with great care, and is not something for everybody. Internal organ damage can occur pretty easily, and not even all the breeders do it because of that chance...

Ok....Thanks! That makes sense!
