Hi Dean,I've told you what I know about Mollies, and if I'm not mistaken,Sandy told you that they have no obvious gravid spot like guppies. The only thing that you can do is wait, and watch to see if she gets bigger. It would be wise to stick with one posting thread on this, that way, you'll be sure to get all your information on one thread.

You have three or four threads going right now Hun,which is really not necessary. If you go0gle Black Molly,I'm sure you'll be able to find some more info out. Good luck!

I found a baby molly in my tank and it looks like te one that looked pregnant is still pregnant, but slimmed down some!!!!!!!
Dean- The parents seem to have no interest in the aby because they do not go by it becuase it stays in one of the 5 plants that i have in my 10 gallon. ANy advice on how to make sure it lives to be and adult and have kids of its own?
Thanks!

If you want to be extra careful with the little fry, you can get one of the little mesh baskets that hangs on the side of the tank and put the baby in that. Feed with a bit of finely crushed flake food or you can buy special fry food at the fish store.
Baby mollies are just so darn cute! Congratulations

congrats on the baby fish.
she wont have hidden them. and if indeed she had more than one, then she or any other tank mates may have eaten them or they are still hiding. maybe she hasnt finished giving birth yet. if you want to keep the babies alive then make sure theres plenty of hiding places for them.

The best solution is a net or plastic basket that fits inside the tank.
They are called breeding nets or baskets. These allow the fry to live in filtered water. I like the ones that are made out of mesh, since it allows more water circulation than some of the plastic ones.
These just hang on the inside of the tank. They work great.

Can i put an airstone in the net with the baby or not becuase that might be too much bubbles for the baby? Is this okay or not?
ThankS!!!!

yes you can put an airstone, just dont make the bubbles too big.

I have the baby in one of those i gallon pet carriers with the handle and a baby snail, and it is eating the crushed up food that i fed it, but it is still eating the stuff off the bottom. There is no aristone or no filtiration in the tank with the baby. Is that good or bad?
Thanks.

BAD. no air stone, thats fine. but you will NEED filtration. however, since you dont have filtration nor air stone.. ive got to ask.
how often do you change water? and do you have plants in the tank.

I have not needed to change the water becuse there is 2 baby snails in with it and the fry has been eating the food off the bottom of the pet carrier. When do you think it is big enough to put back into the main tank? Do you think an undergravel filter will work? I have no plants or gravel.
Thanks!!!

I don't recall saying that it wouldn't get eaten. As long as it fits in an adults mouth,if they catch it,they will eat it. hopefully the plants are enough to hide it until it's big enough.

If you plan on having more babies, you should read up on taking care of,and or /housing the fry. That means either buying maybe a 5 gal.,and setting it up,or spending anywhere from 4--6.00 for a Breeder's Net.Also remember thatif you move fry to another tank, the tank must have a heater,Filtration, etc.

i cleaned the main tank today and put all the fish in the little 2 gallon while i cleaned it, and when i went to get the baby in the net, it swam under the water marbles, so i put an airstone in there and i am letting it go until it grows big enough to not go under the rocks!! The baby is in the 2 gallon with an airstone, 2 snails, and marbles!!!!!!!! Thanks for all the help!!

will the baby fish be able to swim out from under the rocks or will i have to search for it and get it out myself
Thanks!
Raith

why would you search for it and get it out yourself? all youre going to do is stress the fry. if the rocks are big and have holes, i suggest eave the fry alone. if its not big enough and dont have passageways, dont even add rocks or remove it if youve added it.

they are round marbles and when i took the airstone out it came out from under the rocks and ate and then went back under, so i wonder if it thinks the other fish are still in there?
Thanks!

again, depends on how BIG the rocks / marbles are. just plant the tank and get rid of the rocks if you dont want them to be lost/crushed.
