Hi, I recently got 2 rubberlip plecos and I found them biting at each other's tail sad.gif I was wondering if they are territorial like common plecos. They are in a 40 gallon planted tank with driftwoods and I also cot them some cave like ornaments to go into.Would they get along fine or is it much better to put them in separate tanks?Thanks.. smile.gif

Yes they are hun only one per tank, you can have one bushy and one rubber in the tank but 2 of the same thing will cause fights hun sad.gif

Thanks Koko smile.gif
I thought that might be the reason why they always chase each other and bite each other's tail.I can't believe I was deceived again by our LFS.They said they would be fine because they aren't territorial sad.gif
I have a common pleco(sorry,I didn't know about them and I don't know what to do with him) in my 55 g ,can I put one of the rubberlip in there?
koko
im not to sure but you could try and see if the same thing happens??

rolleyes.gif I actually have two different tanks -two Bristles in one and three Bristles in the other. That happened because I was trying to get a female. rolleyes.gif So far,I really haven't had problems with mine-I guess I've been lucky,or maybe it's because I've had them since they were tiny,I don't know..Rubberlips/Bristles usually fall under the same conditions of each other for care/Breeding etc. What size are your guys, and do you know if they're the same sex? By the way,one tank also has a pretty big Common Plec in it. He has never bothered a soul in the tank, and I've had anything from Neons to a Bala Shark in there. This was all done a long time ago before I had access to the care of these creatures. So I have been really fortunate that it's worked as well as it has. smile.gif

My rubberlip plecos are about 4~5 cm still pretty small.I've seen them chasing each other 3 times now everytime they come in contact and I found them biting at each other's tail once sad.gif I don't know how to sex them but maybe they're both male???I'm worried because I have my frys in there and I wouldn't want to stress them with all the fuss going on in the tank.

I'll give them another day or two to settle in their new home and see if they behave themselves. If not,I'll move one of them in the 55 biggrin.gif

Thank you Devs for the responce smile.gif
