Well, I did it, I bought 6 white clouds and 6 Emporer Tetra's yeasterday for my 20 gl.

3 stores just to find these little darlins...... blink.gif

When I finally found the emporers the gal put the first one in and somehow got it caught in the corner and buggered up its eye. sad.gif

she also miscounted and gave me 7. So my question here is, what meds are allright for them, and what is not. I'm not familiar with meds for tropicals as I am with Goldies.

It seems ok otherwise.
Lozbug
congrats, would love to see some piccys, can't really help with med (as i'm across the pond) but from my experience most meds are ok for Tropical & GF - it should say on bottle, colderwater, tropical, marine etc... smile.gif sorry i'm not more use.

Congratulations on your newfish.gif I love both emperors and white clouds.

As the previous poster mentioned, both tropicals (with the exception of some of the scaleless fish) and goldies can tolerate the same meds, both being freshwater fish.

I would keep a close watch on the eye. It may just heal on its own in good water.
Tamianth
biggrin.gif Thanks Touch and Loz. It seems to be holding its own, it just looks awfully swollen, so small. About a inch....

Not sure, but there might be some gill plate damage. Its hard to tell with it so small like that! Poor baby! sad.gif

Poor little thing. I hope it heals smile.gif
Tamianth
Sadly it passed on in the early am. I inspected it closer, gill plate was damaged, looked like the whole left side of its head was pretty bad and the pectoral fin as well! sad.gif

I can't really blame the employee, I think the bag actually slipped some in the container after she sat it down to try and get another one out. Still, that also could be why there was 7 instead of six, she did look at it before adding more to the bag. IMHO, it was a accident. crap.gif

Other then that, the rest are remarkably doing well and enjoying all the plants and such nots. I inspect fins and such at feeding for any sign's of problems...
I'll try to get a picture this week and post it up. The apons have bloomed and produced seed pods no less..... something must be right there..... biggrin.gif

Aw, I am sorry to hear that the little thing didn't make it cry3.gif

Sounds like everyone else is doing well, though, along with the plants!
Raith
congrats about your fishies! and sorry about your loss. melafix and pimafix cure wounds.... thats as far as researching them i know.
Lozbug
sorry to hear that 00001649.gif

Thanks you guy's! biggrin.gif Overall, we lost only one white cloud, and 3 of the tetras, but the rest settled in nicely. The hubby went to town yesterday and they replaced the tetras, so far so good. He got the white cloud also and it died before he got halfway home! dry.gif He was a bit disturbed by that, but not his fault by any means.

I put a bit of mela in, and seems to be doing ok, feeding some medicated food just in case too. biggrin.gif

What ever caused the other loss, is a clueless thing, I sure didn't see anything suspicious.......

Pics tomorrow night! smile.gif

Raith
im holding your words to it.. cant wait for the pics. btw, when you lost these tetras, any symptoms of their death or was it wounds?
Tamianth
Well, here is some!

The first one from accident Raith, it got squished in the bag corner when the gal was getting them for me, the other two tetra's no clue, one white cloud I think had like a heart attack......

The rest seem fine, I did a mela fix treatment for several day's and they look all great! smile.gif The water params where right up to snuff and it was a cycled tank! smile.gif I used it for QT for the goldies, then left it going for a week, water changed and cleaned like normal, and before I got the tetra's, I did a half change, then while they where in bucket, I did a half change to bring everything to absolute zero readings...... That tank has alway's been a easy one to cycle and keep up! smile.gif
Devs
biggrin.gif Looking great so far Kathy,Can't wait to see more pics! exactly.gif
Raith
holy.. thanks! that is the first time ive seen floater seeds... thats amazing.. so pretty too! that store is evil then kat! grrrl.
Tamianth
Thanks Devs! Well, the replacement fish are doing well, I just got the white cloud safely home tonight and esconched in the tank. But I even'd them out, so there's 7 of each.

That ceramic log is filled with old filter floss, I then planted real plants in it. It has sprigs of wisteria in the back, and the end and front holes have red wendttii growing. I use the small bowl you see alongside for wisteria and stem shoots to get started and root. Maybe someday I will get another Betta for the big one below! I've been wanting to get a lid/light for tht one. They used to make these clam shell lights for those, but I cn't seem to find them anyplace anymore. sad.gif

Yeah, the fish didn't show well in my pics. But I'm thinking of adding a couple of small roman pillars or rock arch's, and I have another log that looks just like that one only its reversed and a bit darker... If my plant experiment works with the first one, I'll so the same for the other when I get it out of the boxes upstairs!

Ha! If I can ever get into things up there that is..... dry.gif Still a couple more weeks there.... sad.gif Walls almost up and ceiling..... blink.gif
