i made some gel food and they wouldnt eat it. they will only eat flakes. is it me?

Fish take a few days to figure out that the new thing in the tank is different food. They'll figure it out eventually, piggies as they are. Especially since you fed them flakes before, which floats, compared to gel food, that sinks.
Give them some time. Some fish have a "strange" relationship to certain foods, its almost like me and carrots!

Like Ranchugirl said, the fish need to get used to it first--they are creatures of habit. If they are used to flakes, that is what they expect.

So put in a small piece of the gel food and wait for them to notice it. Once they catch on, they will love it.

They're right. I was using flake food before I got pro gold and it sinks fast. After a couple of feedings they started to figure it out and now they come up to see me when I go to feed and then swim right down to the bottom to wait for the food to fall! Maybe try it a few more times (in small bits so you don't have a lot of uneaten food in there) and if they don't take to it just try something else to find what they like.
