I am upgrading my fry tank(10g to 40g)and I was wondering how I will transfer the frys...The 40 g is cycled with ph 7.7 and fry tanks' ph is at 8.1.I am a worried of PH shock that might kill them The frys are 5 month old and about 3~5 cm.Thanks...

Cathy, I would temporary raise the pH in the 40 gl to 8.1 with baking soda, and once the fish are in, get rid of the stuff with smaller water changes. That way the pH drops slowly enough for the fry to get used to.
How old are the darlings now? I lost track of a lot of things the last few days....

So if I raise the PH on the 40 and match the temp,can I just move them straight in there?

I can't believe how smart these guys are They were playing hide and seek with me..It took me 2 hours to catch them They are now settled in their new home!

My frys were curious of my ranchus they kept following them I'm really glad they get along fine.

Wow! Your tank looks fantastic. Any chance of a front on pic? Am in the process of setting up my 4th tank and am totally at a loss as to what i should do with it. Yours looks brilliant.

I can't fit the whole tank up front so I kinda took from the side.I'm gonna take a front pic tomorow and post it.My fish are already asleep

Now, which frys are these? ( I know you had trouble with your ranchu fry) can you get a pic of the frys too? I'd love to see how they compare to your ranchus.

I upgraded my 10 g ryukin/telescope fry tank(remember my 5 month old frys?) to 40 g and put my 2 ranchus from the 20 g together

The ranchus spawned again yesterday but my frys managed to eat the eggs as soon as they were released There weren't that many eggs though.

I'm gonna take a picture of the frys and ranchus together so you can see and post them tomorrow.

Wow...your fry are really good sized already. I was expecting them to still be about the size of pea, but I guess you wouldn't be putting them in with your ranchus then, Huh?

That's great your ranchus were ready to spawn so soon. Do you have an idea when Chip might be ready to release her eggs again? Maybe you can move them so the eggs wont be in danger of being eaten again? Or is it best to leave them alone? My fish have never spawned so I'm clueless except for what I've read here, on this site.

Those are great pics of your tank. Where do you put all of your tanks? You must have lots of room or wall space!!

My biggest fry is about 5 cm from nose to tail and the ranchus are about 7 cm nose to tail so there isn't much difference in length.The ranchus look rather big because they are fat

I really can't tell when Chip is ready Her belly is always round.They just start spawning early in the morning. I think the spawning this time was triggered by the move.I'm regretting that I put the frys together though.I never even thought of the outcome.But I'm gonna find a way to save some eggs next time

My tank are all in my dining room.The 2 20 gallon tanks are beside the 40 g and the 55 is in front of the 40 g.I had to move my computer to fit all 4 tanks.I have my 15 g QT tank at our living room
