I was planning to get a tiger pleco but I was told that tiger plecos are not good algae eaters.I saw another type of pleco and I was wondering if they are good algae eaters and if they are compatible with goldies.Any help greatly appreciated biggrin.gif Thank you.

Looks like a rubberlip pleco, and yes they are compatible with goldfish. They are fair little algae eaters, but not as good as a bristlenose, imo. However, if you can't find a bristlenose, and rubberlips are available, then go for it! He sure is cute biggrin.gif

I have two of them in my tanks, they are great guys, but remember to have plenty of food they will find goldfish tasty if you run out of algea for them......

That sounds a bit scary boom.gif going for goldies.I was planning to put one with my ranchus and probably one with my frys.How many times a day should I feed them and how much?I don't want to find them snacking on my goldies biggrin.gif rofl3.gif

As long as you have a constant brown algae in the tank they wont harm a thing. The thing I ran into was that I went bare bottom in my 45 gal tank so there wasnt much food for him and I didn't see that he wasn't getting his far share of the food and I found him tring to nibble the slim off my MrT fish.

Mind you this tank doesn't have plants rocks nothing, there wastn much for him. It was my fault sad.gif

the tank that I'm going to put them are planted and have driftwoods in them.The main reason why I wanted an algae eater because algae is growing on the leaves and wood biggrin.gif Thank you koko,I really appreciate it rolleyes.gif

Oh he would do fine in there hun. I have another one in a 35 gal tank that is heavily planted and hes just a cleaner for that tank....heartpump.gif
