I wouldnt keep the lights on 24/7. It will cause algea to grow very rapid. Maybe keep it on 10 hours a day? Also, when you do water changes every week, you can just take the deocrations out and clean them. i know it can be a pain, but sometimes its the only way. Lately ive had a horrible algea problem, and am trying to get it under control. It covers my back wall. YUCK, but I have to scrub it every couple of days to keep it off. Also, luckily I have drift wood in my tank, so you cant really see the algea on it!
Hope this helps!

I would not keep the lights on all the time too. I go for 10 hours on, any more and I get alot of alge. A toothbrush is really handy for cleaning decorations and other tank related cleaning.
Keeping your nitrates down by regular water changes is also a good way to keep the alge down.

Your fish needs rest, don't on the light at night.

Yeah it works like a charm!!!! He doesnt find it very funny, but i do. I can say it and be joking, and that day before he brushes his teeth, he looks at it for a minute, and gives me a funny look, like he knows I must have done something.
