my aquaclear mini broke the other day. I got a 5 gallon and i'm wondering if i should get a mini or upgrade to the 150. I think the 150 more water so my tank will be clean. or just i buy a whisper 5-10 gallon filter?

I used to have an aquaclear for my 30 gallon a long time ago, and it broke on me too..... and i hadnt had it that long.
I would probably go out and buy another. the 150 sounds good to me, but I dont know a whole lot about all the diff filters. I personally dont like the whisper filters. Ive owned them, and found the aquaclears to be better. Im acctually in the process of looking for a better filter myself.
Good Luck, and I hope I helped at least a little bit. Im sure there are more educated people who know more about filters then I do.

The mini pumps 100 gallons per hour and the 150 pumps 150 gallons per hour. I have found the mini to be fine for a five gallon tank.

You can also get an undergravel filter that requires and air pump and if you buy it from PETCO, it comes with the airstones and the cartridges. It is like 4 bucks and then buy a new filter becuase that is what i have in my ten gallon, is a nundergravel and a canister filter that came with my tank.

That would be a smart move. Simply because you can just turn the 150's flow to minimal until you want to add it to the ten gallon. Then, you can turn the flow all the way up...............
Good luck!

why dont u just have it on high.
I bought the filter and tank at the same time so it ddin't affect me.
would it be because it would suck up to much water.

Probably recommending turning the flow down so that the current will not be too great in the small tank.

Precisely!
The 150 set on max flow will cause too much current in the 5 gallon.
