Hey!! When i went ot Wal-Mart today i was looking for something for my new ten gallon and i looked at the platy and the mollies and the guppies. What are better for a 10 gallon tank to have multiples of? They were yellow and orange and white they were so cool becuase they were all so many different colors!!! Please give me some advice!!!!! I do not want anymore goldfish becuase they produce so much waste!!!!! What is the best way to move a 10 gallon tank from house to house becuase we are moving in with my grandma, which is about a half an hour from here and what is the best way to move the tank becuase it has some snails in it and i do not want to take the gravel out so i was thinking about leaving some water in there and palcing on my lap and then moving it like that. Is that okay or is there a better method that i should try or use becuase i am open for suggestions!! Sorry for the long post and sorry for having 2 questions when the title and topic title only ask which is better, guppies, molly, or platy!! Please do not kick me off the site and please do not get mad at me!!! How do you make your signature becuase i have not found out how!!! IS this a Koko question? Thanks again! Why aren't my smiley faces showing up, it just says what they are and not showing up!!!!! How can you get a picture on the side of you post, under your name?

Hey don't fret having more questions than in the title. I too get to asking more than I originally thought.
I haven't moved with a tank, but I don't see why your idea wouldn't work, provided no fish in it. The snails I think would be ok.
At the top of the page you should have "my controls" this is where you click to add things.......your avatar (the pic under your name) and your signature. Go in a play around, if you have anymore questions please go right ahead and ask.

Well i found the snails, becuase they are babies and brown, and placed them in a pitcher and we are getting ready to move the tank now and get it all set up. If i place the chlor-out stuff in and then the snails, will they die or would you keep them in the pitcher overnight and then place them in to make sure that they water temp. matched the temperature in the pitcher becuase it came from the tank. I will try, my controls.

As for the qestion about mollys, platys or guppys. I would say either guppys or platys would be best for a 10 gallon because a school of mollys can out grow a 10 gallon. You could get 8 guppys or 6-7 platys. For guppys they like their to be more females than males or else the males could start fighting over the females so 2 male guppys and 6 females would be good. not sure if this is true about platys too.

I would pick platys. They are very colourful, and I personally have found them to be more hardy than guppies. Good luck and let us know what you decide

For guppies i would go with either all male or all female, i don't know which is better in terms of them getting along but if you have both you will soon have hundreds of guppies!

We have decided to get 3 mollys. One all white one, one all black one, and one dalmation molly. This is all we are getting, but we might get one male and one female guppy.

The anal fin on male livebearers (mollies, guppies, platys) is modified so that it is rod shaped, whereas the females have a regular shaped anal fin. Hope this helps. Also, with guppies, the females have a dark gravid spot just above their anal fin. The store employees should be able to pick males and females for you easily.

That was not so when i went ot get some other gupies for my ool tank becuase i had to tell her that the sizes are the way to tell and she still did not get it, but i had to point the male out and then point the female out.
Thanks! That does help.
