[attachmentid=6524]I just wanted to share this with you......

Since I have large gravel in my tank, I found that the progold has a tendency to fall between the gravel before my goldies can get to it. I started placing a bowl in the bottom of the tank, soak the food a bit and dump it into the bowl at the bottom. My goldies go crazy when the see the bowl sitting there. But I have discovered that my goldies aren't the only ones who have discovered that the bowl means food. My flying fox and one of my hong kong plecos (bottom of the bowl) are in there for their fair share laugh.gif

That's so cool! I gotta try the bowl thing. And your fish are so cute! wub.gif

Very cute picture. I am amazed your pleco gets right in there for his share. He must be pretty guttsy.

he just flattens himself down and it doesn't seem to bother him that the goldies come in for the food. The FFox will leave when the goldies come near but is right back in there when their backs are turned. laugh.gif

Is it safe to put just a normal plate in the tank? If it is, can I keep a plate in my tank and put their food on it, so it doesn't get lost in the gravel? huh.gif

i gave my guys progold for the first time today, and they saw me drop it in, but it sunk right past them! they kept looking at me like 'well where is it? thats NOT funny!!!' im gonna have to try the plate thing....sounds like a good idea!

They will learn to chase it down, believe me biggrin.gif

Once they get a mouth full, they will go off and chew for awhile, then they will search the bottom for more. ( our feeding ritual ) biggrin.gif

I don't really see whats so great about progold. I'd rather feed my fish homemade gel food and a variety of fresh veggies and protein. In fact, I think I'm giving up on pellets all together, or may just use them as "vitamins". biggrin.gif

So, is progold really that great?

Deedeesue... I was reading your signature and it took me a while to figure out if you had a chihuahua named bear or a bear named chihuahua. It was an amusing little brain fart. smile.gif

You have brought some joy to my evening.

Edit: Sorry about the off-topic post. As you were, kids. As you were.

I use the plate method too. My pebbles are all over 1" in diameter and I din't think about the food becomeing completely lost in the cracks before I bought it. When the goldfish get bigger will they be able to nudge the pebbles out of the way and dig around?

My dojos love that food to spit.gif
