HI! i have had my goldfish for about 9 months now, there are two in my tank. I have a filter and change the water regularly but one of my fish has a problem!
over the past 3 weeks a black mark appeared on its mouth, it has got worse and worse and now is covering its whole mouth!
i know when it was younger it would get black marks come and go over its body but not in the past 5 months. is it just markings? or is it dying?

Hi Louise

Black marks like that can either be a natural colour change which is normal in goldfish and harmless, or it can be a sign of toxic ammonia in the water. Could you please answer as many of the following questions as you can? We need some background info. to help figure out what's happening with your fish. smile.gif

How long has it been running?

What kind of water additives or conditioners are used?
Any medications added to the tank?
