I tend to feed my s/w and f/w tanks on the light side. I just set up my first goldie tank and notice that they tend to search for food all day long. They nibble on the gravel and fake plants all day long!
Does that mean that I'm under feeding?

In my experience, this does not mean you are under feeding. I believe that goldfish live for food, and constantly search for it. A goldfish's favorite activity is to root around in the gravel searching for that last delicious snack. My goldies do it ALL THE TIME, and they get fed quite enough. They are certainly not starving.

Goldfish usually look for food all the time, it doesn't mean that you are underfeeding, they are hungry 24/7

LOL, if my goldies grazing around looking for food all day long meant I wa underfeeding them, then i would be feeding them every 10 minutes!
Its pretty normal for goldies to look around for food all day long..... like said before, goldies LIVE for food. I wish i could just eat and eat and eat whatever I want and not worry about hot fat my belly was.... LOL... now all I can think about is some goldie worried about being on a diet, skinny little thing swimming around the tank....
