I am getting a new canister filter for my 6 ranchu but all the reviews on the net are mixed :S
so maybe someone here will be able to tell me a better answer...
which is more quiet? fluval or Eheim classic?
I heard eheim are the best, are the Eheim ecco comfort or the eheim classics really better then a fluval?
I have herd Fluval has higher gph but eheim classic is more efficient...so then which is better?
Is it better to get a less GPH but more efficient eheim, or a higher GPH fluval?
I am choosing between getting a fluval 404 or Eheim classic 2213.
Thanks.

My 404's are nice and quiet. I have to get up next to them to hear
if they are even running. The 404 has a 340 gph while the eheim
was running at 116 gph. The 2213 will cost a little less then the
404, but not by much. I can't offer any info on the eheims, I don't
have any. Hopefully a eheim owner will pass through.

Eheim's are a great filter. They are made with a very high quality material and the hoses unlike the Fluval are green and like the vacuum hoses you use for the tank. They have a very nice primer button and are very quite and easy to clean.

I too have a rena XP3 and love it, the hoses are smooth and easy to clean and it is very easy to prime. I would highly recommend it. biggrin.gif

I think in efficiency in the sense of less media by pass, eheim classic tops that by its design. As for 2213 it comes with one media basket, it is the only in the classic series to come with a media basket. It's flow rate is 440L/hr which for me I never got that flowrate when I loaded it full with media. Based on my 5L jug and time flowrate estimation, I get between 350 to 400 L/hr.

I think 404 would be higher in terms of flow rate. The advantages of 2213 for me
1. efficiency
2. low wattage
3. back flush possible
4. quiet

I have 2 fluval 404's and and an Eheim 2126. The fluval's are great, the eheim fantastic! Big bucks though.
