sad.gif Sorry Smack....If your tank is too humid, they will fall in the water & drown...Fish probably had a snack. I take a credit card & scrape the eggs off-not as difficult as you'd think. You can either float them on styrofoam in your tank,or Take a tupperware/margarine container-dampen a paper towel-moist-not soaked from the tank water-lay the eggs on it,poke holes in the lid,and either put it someplace warm(not Hot),or float it in yopur tank.I've had better luck doing that.If you try it,you have to check eggs everyday & mist so they don't dry out. smile.gif
smack536
oooh.....I never knew that...I figured I should just leave them alone till i see little ones...

awww...im sad now...i feel like a bad mama...

awww!! dont worry smack. I have lost about six clutches. I did the styrafoam thing but the snails must have knocked it over during the night. I woke up the next morning and the clutches were is the water. crap.gif i dont think my tank is humid enough for them to hatch anyway sad.gif
Black oranda
sad.gif Sorry about your eggs

What I did for my clutches was to put them in a hairnet and ducktape the ends of the hairnet to the outside of the glass (attractive tongue.gif) so they're suspended above the water. It worked pretty well actually, and the clutches don't fall out. I'm sorry you lost your clutches.

I will def try some of these suggestions next time...hopefully...i come across clutches.....havent seen anyone sliming around on the lid tho...

To be honest, those eggs are coming from a brother/sister mating! And Chewy and her husbands came from the same tank at the pet store, so chances are they could be brothers and sister too. I'm not sure if I'd even keep the eggs if I were you. Might just be too many generations of inbreeding. Like I said, your snail's parents could very well be inbreed (or not, who knows). I'm not sure how the what the effects of that would be on a snail, but I'm sure it's not positive. Maybe someone will know that answer better than me.

If you want to raise a clutch, I can give you my next brig clutch...or even Chewy clutch (but Chewy's clutches can yield 300+ snails!)...seriously, if you're interested, let me know, it's a cool, yet very time consuming, yet very rewarding heartpump.gif experience! biggrin.gif
smack536
oooh.....hahaha...that would be kinda funny to have inbred snails...poppin out with 2 heads and 6 antennas...2 feet....extra shells....rofl.... jtmuch.gif

Ill shut up now...Im in the process of setting up my snail tank.....maybe Ill take you up on that brig/chewy clutch! biggrin.gif

I posed the question of inbreeding on applesnail.net about 6 months ago, but nobody's seen any negative affects from it yet. Sometimes it may be possible to attribute abnormalities to inbreeding, but there hasn't been any serious problems so far. Besides, snails' clutches can be fathered by more than one male, so they might not be as inbred as you think. Of course, to keep the colors, a lot of people purposely inbreed their snails.
