biggrin.gif Wow Tinks,
And how many tanks do these live in. How did you get to know what they all are and are there and pics on here of your tanks . I'd love to have a nose.

I must get the names of the new plants I am about to buy instead of saying " I'll have one of them and two of them. I do know I have java Fern and loads of little baby ones.
Lynnie59
sad.gif I have tried every plant around for my goldfish! They think we are giving them a fancy meal for the day, they end up eating them all!

We have tried: Anubias, Anacharis, and a few others... no luck.....

My new baby GF even uproot the silk plants I put into their tank.. little monsters!

exactly.gif

we don't like plastic plants, so buy silk ones... they are very pretty, just have to remember to wash them regularly, they do collect gunk/algae, and discolor..
directions on the plant box say to let them dry overnite, THEN clean with a brush.. guess it's easier when they dry out...

I think I have a few plants called 'Kyoto Dwarf'. Not sure though, not even the employees at the pet shop knew what they were, so they called then "cichlid grass". unsure.gif
The fish don't eat them, but the oranda seem to enjoy pulling them around the tank.

Right now...plastic ones sad.gif

Tinkerbell incredible! You need to give me advice on how to keep plants longer than a month....

Since the parasite infestation(bought last live plants at PetSmart) I've gone to plastic/silk.

Not worth the risk to me anymore.
goldfish guru #1
you should have bought the plants put them in seperate water and sum tank water then aquarium salt for about thirty minutes
katmad
i have anubias which is thriving (which im very happy about coz it was my fist ever plant) and a java fern which keeps sprouting little baby java ferns. My goldies try to eat the plants but i dont think they can coz the leaves are thick and they only have teeny little mouths.
Lady_D
I am still in a transition phase, I just got a new tank and I am moving some around. I am going barebottom on all but the little betta tank, he will just have a light sprinkling of gravel or stones of some kind. My plants are non-existant right now, I am still getting everything sorted out. But, when they get in the tank I will have plastic in the goldie tank, plastic/silk in the tiger barbs, and silks in the betta. I also have to apo bulbs that are looking really good in the apple snail tank.
Angelle
I did try real plants...but with the brown algae that i had (gone now...have no idea how??) and an attack of ick they didnt last long.

I use silk plants...i think they look more real than the hard plastic ones. I have a bare bottom tank now and i put them in tiny terracotta pots they look lovely!
Lady_D
My goldies try to eat the silk plants. rolleyes.gif I end up with frazzeled ends.
