I love angelfish... I would get some of those! Their sooo pretty! Makes me want a tropical tank...... yeah.gif
sandy
oooh a 60 gallon, how lovely!!

well i would find out what the ph is first, that should really decide what type of cichlid you should have. I know most cichlids can handle most ph values but to keep them healthy and for breeding then you should get the type of cichlid for your water.
For angels they need a deep tank, so at least 18 inches deep is needed and you will need around 10 gallons per angel. How about 4 angels, a pair of acara and some congo tetras and some corydoras catfish? With plenty of planting it would look fantastic.

thanks sandy. the ph is around 7.6 but i do have some ph down if thts to alcaline. im just doing some research on them now. i found 2 almost fully grown angels yesterday which i might get. would a convict cichlid go ok with them or are they a bit butch? maybe a couple of discus? i heard angels pray on things like tetras when they get older though. mind you, the lfs told me that and they screwed up their face when i asked if i chiclid would be ok with angels. 'cichlids??? whats that??' laugh.gif

biggrin.gif Hi Blink! An empty tank! Wow ! Haven't seen one of those for a while! rolleyes.gif I'm not quite the expert that Sandy is on these types of fish, but I do know that Convicts can be some nasty fish! I had a friend who had some---They were mean ,nasty, bugger's. Discus are beautiful! They get pretty darn big though.I always heard that they're very sensitive to water Params & not the easiest of fish-although alot of people say that about Angelfish too.Well,what-ever you do decide Good luck, and be sure to post the new tank!! yeah.gif

hey there,

angels and rams of diff sorts would be cool, i wouldnt try blue acaras or cons as they are a little to pushy,

Discus rams some tetras and fancy plecs would work well ! or the same but swap the angels out with the discus. all would preffer a soft acidic aquarium with a sandy substrate though smile.gif you've seen my discus havent you ?

yeah, theyre lovely! thats what inspired me to get some! im going to use the tank for the axolotl babies until i sell them, then once everything else is fine in the other tanks, ill probably get some discus and tetras or something biggrin.gif
