I had 2 ramshorn snails, on the back of plants, thinking how cute, and then there were hundreds, i am fed up of picking them out, i hate killing them, is there another way??

blink.gif I have been battling those snails for a long time,unfortunately...I'm a snail lover, and I do think that the Ram'shorns are pretty, but they just never stop breeding ever!!!!!! blink.gif Unless you take down your whole tank-pitch the gravel, clean everything out,or you look into a fish that will actually eat them, there's not much else you can do.....Sorry.....This is my experience with them,anyway...... rolleyes.gif

I have ramshorns in my goldie tank, and I haven't seen any babies at all! I've had em for like 2 months now too. I guess the goldies take care of em?? They're mating constantly, but I have yet to see any babies!

Seriously, you just got to remove the egg's, but even the small ones can lay eggs and they are very hard to see, like tiny patch's of clear jello. I generally remove those with a pair of plastic tweezers to get a grip on them. Daily inspections & removals! dry.gif

Ramshorns are really hard to control because their eggs are so hard to see sometimes. Do you have goldies in there with them? Goldies are good at controlling snail populations. Other than that you would probably have to cull the babies sad.gif I know it's sad but snails can really get out of hand unless you can control them in some way

If you have apple snails in teh same tank they will eat hte eggs as they find them, they wont do anything about the already existing snails though.

Well i dislike the tank anyway, and hate the gravel i used, so an upgrade is on the cards. Bigger tank smile.gif . I think in future plants will have salt baths, lets hope theres none on the plants in my new goldie tank, though i looked for eggs. The eggs thay lay in jelly are real problem, finding them.
