That makes me want to start on mine! My husband got me a pond kit for my birthday. I am waiting to put it in. We will get his orders at the end of this month, and I will know if we have to move. I would hate to put it in and then have to leave it smile.gif . So I will wait and see.
Mariocrazy's Mum
Oh WOW! That looks HUGE! yikes.gif
I didn't realise from the earlier pics just how huge it would be!!
This is amazing! To be able to watch it take shape like this ................ more pics pliz! biggrin.gif

(ok, this is really thick of me, but I have to ask .... do you need to de chlorinate the water still) unsure.gif
coyote ugly
It really is huge exactly.gif Your fish will be soooo happy in there biggrin.gif Are you planning to get some kois or goldfish to house in your pond unsure.gif
Lozbug
thanks, thank, and thanks..... i wont be adding fish for a while yet... so the water will have plenty of time to mature & establish (it will dechlorinate naturally as it is left standing)

i plan on maybe couple of koi & GF.. see what takes my fancy. been at quarry again today for the gravel & more stones... off the garden shop in a min to get first of plants... more picts later on today smile.gif

Day Four 15th March

not much actual pond work done today, been to the quarry twice for chippings and stone to creat a mini wall on the side we had to raise (due to slopping lawn). Managed to find an hour to get to garden shop and get started on the plants... i purchased...

2 x Carex Pendula (grassy type)
1 x Nasturtium Aquaticum (Watercress)
1 x Dwarf Spearwort (pretty yellow flowers!)
1 x Marsh Marigold (more pretty yellow flowers)
1 x Equisetum Japonicum (meant to look like horsetails?!?)
1 x Nymphaea Sunrise (hardy water lilly)

No more pond work until Saturday now... it's raining today and im back at work Thursday & Friday.

Plan for the weekend is... get filter/pump cabling finished and waterfall going. Make start on wall, cut excess liner, shift spare soil further back so can start work on rockery & decking in a few weeks. More plants?

Today is rest.... smile.gif
OldHag
Thanks for the nice chat! Got an answer from Koko last night. It's good to be back.
I tried to post a picture of our snowy pond but it didn't work. You can see it in my thread "Anette" in members info! biggrin.gif

biggrin.gif Loz,the pond is looking wonderful!!!!! Although my very first thought was,"Look at all the extra material....she could have gone a little bit bigger".!!! I'm terrible,I know..I just know that most people that have done ponds always say that they should have made it bigger. haahahaha...It seems to be a wonderful size.I wish I had the room-I'm so jeaous!!!! You'll just have to share with me from "across the pond"!!!! Super job Hun!!!! exactly.gif
Lozbug
Good to chat to you too anette, will go find the picture soon.

Devs, you can share my pond from across the pond smile.gif It's 3x bigger than the original plan, i was on the 500Gal to 1000Gal aim, now it is more like 4000Gal... and the guy measured the liner wrong... thats why there is so much excess, maybe enough for a mini pond?? wink.gif

More work tomorrow... more piccys too smile.gif
Devs
Thanks Hun! heartpump.gif And hey, mini ponds are nice!!!! hahahaha---If I could,I think the whole yard would be ponds! laugh.gif That must be what Ranchugirl's yard is like!!!!! hahahaha! Andrea has a few ponds! biggrin.gif

Oh, your pictures are so good! I'm so jealous because all I see is lots of snow...
I want to see the green grass too... we have a little waterfall too, but only when it rains!
I agree it looks so easy, as I remember it was sweat and hard work. My husband dug our pond with a shovel. It's not quite finished yet, he always has ideas how to make it better. This summer it will be some plants around the wall, I think.
It will be exciting to put out the "new" fish, little Maxi, our fry! I think he will like it! biggrin.gif
Black oranda
heartpump.gif the waterfall looks great

My dad id going to quarry for me again next week as we havent got enough to buld the wall yet, so easter weekend will be busy! wink.gif

Wow, it's really coming along great! I can't wait to see more pictures. You have given me some good ideas for the pond I'm going to build this summer. I want to start on mine now!
Rachelm
I've only just seen this, lovely looking pond you are going to have some very happy fish in there when its ready.

Oh, and i think digging it out with a mini digger looked like so much fun! Now theres an idea for convincing hubby we need a pond - i'll let him have a go on the digger lol, he'd love that!

Hope the weather stays nice for you this weekend so you can get on with it.

Rachel
Black oranda
smile.gif It looks great once again. Are you buying all these rocks (gravel)
or are you getting them at the mountain ect ect ?
Rachelm
Not many mountains round these parts smile.gif good question tho, it must be quite expensive if you have to pay for all of those. Look good tho biggrin.gif
Ranchugirl
Wow, that looks really pretty, Loz! redbanana.gif And the whole process has been so fast! Its so exciting to look at projects like this, and with the coming growing season your pond plants are gonna grow so wonderfully!
Our first inground pond has yet to come, but its still a long time off.
Devs
unsure.gif Andrea,I thought you started one when you moved in??My Bad.....Here I am thinking about all these ponds! laugh.gif Loz,I'm still impressed more & more with each pic!!! You're kicking butt on getting this done!!!! exactly.gif I have simply enjoyed watching it grow from an idea to a reality. You're yard looks beautiful!!! cool.gif
Ranchugirl
Oh, but Sharon, I have plenty of above ground ponds...laugh.gif Just not an inground one.
We still haven't start building the house yet, and we wonna wait for the pond until see the exact proportions. Don't wonna dig up a 20.000 gl pond, and then figure out at the end that it looks odd compared to the house or something like that....laugh.gif
Lozbug
Wow, Thank you all!!

Rachel, thats how i got my dad to help "you can drive the digger!" it worked laugh.gif

Ranchugirl, thanks i am looking forward to seeing the plants spread smile.gif

Stones,
The large rock and flat edging stones i am getting at the quarry. we have one about 10 mins away, and he knows of our family, so he lets us have our trailer 1/2 full for £5.00, as long as we pick our own (3 loads) and the gravel i got there also, took some empty coal bags and filled the ourselves and ther were £2 a bag - i had 10 bags. The only stones i have paid a alot for were they cobbles, had to get them at lfs they are about £6 a bag - i have had 3.

more work and piccys tomorrow.
